Probably like most of us on here, I have been overweight my entire life. I can't ever remember being a normal weight. Just recently I was going through some things & found a book called "My favorite things" that I made in kindergarten. On the first page was a picture of me, underneath it had stuff like "full name" "height" "weight".... stuff like that. Under weight it said 137lbs. At 5 years old. A normal weight for my height right now is 141lbs. First of all, Ive grown much taller since kindergarten lol & 2nd I cant imagine what it would actually be like to be that weight ever again. I dont even remember it when I was! And of course then I was still considered fat because I was so short that I was huge... Especially for that age... But anyways... Ive been researching the RNY surgery since 2004 & trying to have it since. Hopefully this time it will finally happen. Alot of people think 20 is too young to have such a life altering surgery. I dont think the age should matter as long as you fully understand what is expected & are willing to make lifestyle changes. Ive already begun making those changes & I know what to expect after surgery as well as all of the possible complications & risks. Its just that if I continue to live my life at the weight I am now with all of the health problems that the weight brings, where am I gonna end up? The benefits outweigh the risks. I can honestly say that I AM ready. Im sure there are many unexpected things after surgery that no one could prepare for like the ups & downs & such... but I will learn to deal with those things as they come. Its time for a change.
