The start of my Journey

Sep 26, 2009

I have to say this is the first time that I have done something I did just for myself.  You get so caught up in everyone lives but sometimes you just need to do something to help yourself.  It was hard to make that decision to have RNY to actully cut out a big part of your stomach.  Wow that will get you to thinking hun!
I have been round most of my life.  My parents both had a weight problem.  My siblings all so had a weight problem some bigger than others.  I being the runt of the family had the most weight.  At my highest I was 212 being only 5 foot I was as round as I was tall.  I was kept pretty normal but did struggle with my weight when I was a teen.  I would just not eat.  Lose the weight.  In my young adult years I went to a weightloss doctor and he put me on Diet pills.  I would hardly eat anything and of course that as you know just adds the problem later.  We are invinsable at that age.  I got married when I was 22 and the weight started to come on fast and I felt doomed.  Tried different diet progam's Nurtra systems, Fad diets.  TOPS, Weight Watchers at least 5 times but lost at all the battles.  Gained and lost many times.  My darling husband would give me that here she goes again looks when I said I am going to Join a gym or start Weight Watchers.  What ever he would say.
When I brought up the lap band he was interested than when I got the word from Dr Chebli he said that with my Type 2 diabetes he told me that Gastric By Pass was what he thought was best.  He would of liked to do the gastric sleeve but Tri West would not pay for that one.  So Gastric By Pass was it.
Than I got the laundry list of all of the things you have to do to get the surgery.  Wow, didn't it seem endless and impossible to get it all done?  Than I got a new PC and had to explain what was going on.  So he would order all the tests.  That way they would be paid by my insurance.  It all worked.  Off to surgery was I.
This started in August of 2008 and surgery was November 18 2008.  I all so had a surgery buddy which they schedualled the same day as my surgery so I have a pal that has done all of it with me.  Debra has done well she is almost to goal me I still have a little ways to go.
