190 lbs lost and Lower Body Lift

Nov 06, 2010

I saw 160 on the scale this morning!  woo-hoo!!  Next stop is the 150's.  Oh yeah!!  Life is sooo good.  I had my sleeve almost 2 1/2 years ago.  Yes, I am still working on losing the last of the weight but I truely do enjoy the journey so its all good.  I can tell you that having WLS doesn't "fix" you.  You have to battle the food addiction for the rest of your life. However, having WLS equips you to actually win the battle.  As long as we don't give up.

I had a lower body lift last Thursday by Dr. Sawan.  I am so grateful for my new flat tummy.  I have the smallest belly button I have ever seen.  LOL  The pain was a bit more than I realized it would be but I am now doing great.  I think all the working out really worked in my behalf on this deal.  He took 7 lbs of skin off me.  Wow.

I don't update on here that much anymore because I am too busy out enjoying life instead of sitting on the couch eating and watching it pass my by.  My husband had a sleeve a few months ago and now we are on the same page which is such a relief.  My life is good.

180 lbs gone and running a half marathon!

May 02, 2010

I ended up on the news recently....alot actually.  I think it took me seeing these news stories to wrap my mind around the changes in my body.  Wow!  I have lost an entire person...180 lbs.  As glitter gal or happy cat would say, I lost a fat cheerleader!  I weigh 169 now.  I was in the news because I decided to run the half marathon.  Okay so lots of people do that, why am I so special?

I guess my story is different becasue I am a survivor of the bombing so for me running the OKC National Memorial Marathon takes on a whole different meaning.  I decided to run in honor of my friends that were killed and to also run as a testament to myself and others that you can not only survive the hand that life deals you but thrive if you put your mind to it.  I started training on Jan 2nd and ran 3 times a week to prepare.  RAN!!!!!  You don't understand.......well, wait a minute, you are on OH so you probably do understand!!  LOL  Just a couple of years ago I couldn't stand for more than 5 minutes.  Couldn't go up a flight of stairs, and certainly couldn't run even if something was chasing me.

It was incredible to cross that finish line.  I felt every emotion under the sun.  It was amazing to open the paper the day after and see a full page spread on me in the sports section.....THE SPORTS SECTION!!!!  Me in the Sports Section!!!!!!  That 350 lbs girl is gone and I keep working out and watching what I eat to make sure she stays gone.

The weight comes off very slow now...maybe an average of 3 to 4 lbs a month.  I want to lost 10 more and then get some excess skin taken off.  The dr. I went to said my stomach skin weighs 10 lbs.  Wow!

I'm not on OH as much as the old days, because I am out living life and having a blast.  But I still pop in about once a week and check out things.  I still think this message board is one of the main reasons I was successful.  Thank you OH family!!

Onderland!

Aug 11, 2009

I finally saw the numbers I have been waiting and working for.  199.  I actaully re-weighed a couple of times just to be sure.  Yep, 199.  I don't look much different than 2 lbs ago but suddenly I feel skinny.  It is amazing how we just so hung up on numbers.  Regardless, I am pumped!!!

I sound like a broken record but it bears repeating again.  This WLS has saved my life!  I am living and not sitting on the sidelines or couch eating and watching the world go by.  I am active and enjoying life.

I hit the gym at 5:30 a.m. in the morning which in itself is a flipping miracle!  I've never been a work out kind of person.  Then a couple of times a week I take a serious bike ride around the lake.  I love it!!!

I remember all the things I couldn't do over a year ago, tying my shoe, seeing my feet, fitting in a booth, standing for more than 5 minutes, walking up stairs, taking blood pressure meds, not being able to cross my legs, wearing a size 32/34, having a seatbelt extender in my car, being completely miserable.  If you are on this board reading this, you know the drill.

I LOVE LIFE!!!!!!  I LOVE MY SLEEVE!!!  151 lbs gone - woo-hoo!!!!

42 years old and loving life!

Apr 03, 2009

I had a birthday which would normally depress me but the difference between my quality of life at my last birthday and this birthday is unbelievable!  I went from not even being able to stand or walk for 5 minutes to biking around Lake Hefner in the wind!  Tomorrow I am actually riding in the redbud classic 10 mile bike ride.

I have lost 131 lbs.  The weight loss has slowed big time but its okay.  I have lost a chubby cheerleader as Happycat puts it!  This board has been such a life saver and keeps me accountable and encouraged.  I never thought I would be the "social networking" type but I can't image making it on this journey with out Glittergal, HappyCat, Okiechick, Fleenoore, Cricket, Ruth, hearmeroar, Amy's_sis, longredrose, etc......the list goes on an on of those who have been so inspirational.

If you are checking out my profile wondering if you shoudl have surgery, well, only you can decide if it is right for you.  For me --it saved my life.  No longer am I sitting on the sidelines watching life go by and wishing I could start that diet that will finally get the weight off.  Now I am really living life!!!!!!!  I still have 69 lbs to go to reach my personal goal of 150.  There are lots of people who have the surgery just to lose that much weight but hey its okay, some of us are heavy weights and it just takes us a bit longer but we eventually get there!

My life is so different now!!!!

Feb 22, 2009

I just got back from biking around lake overholser!  I get up in the mornings at 5:15 and am working out at the gym by 5:30 until 6:30!! I can't beleive it!  Last year at this time I could barely walk for 5 minutes and now nothing is holding me back.  I am planning a trip to Disney World because I know I can handle the walking and can fit on rides now.  We will go in November and by then I hope to have lost 40 more lbs and be in onderland!!  Woo-hoo!!!  The weight loss has slowed the past few months but I'm also eating more than I used to as the stomach has healed now.  I have to make good choices now and work my tool!  I have lost 125 lbs.  Thats a small person!!  I am loving my new life!!

120 lbs lost!

Jan 11, 2009

I had a wonderful Christmas and for the first time I wasn't desperate to start a diet for New Years.  Obviously healthy eating is important but I'm 120 lbs down and feeling great.  I have to work my tool, so I'm not saying I don't have to worry...its just not the samea as it was before the surgery.  I love it!  This year my focus will be continuing the weight loss and adding exercise more.  I feel off the wagon so I need to start it up again.

My son told me this morning that I look awesome and he is glad he can put his arms around me and even touch his hands...before he couldn't get his arms around me all the way.  I love these non scale victories!

111 lbs lost!!

Dec 06, 2008

I weighed 239 this moring!!  I can't believe I made it to the 230s.  Starting at 350 I never thought I was see myself make it this far.  My biggest hope was to lose 100 lbs and now I am at 111 lbs.  Wow.

My sister had her sleeve done yesterday and I can't wait to see how it changes her life.  Right now she is sipping, resting, and walking.  Oh how I remember those days!  It is so worth it and yes I would do it again in a heart beat!!

I love life and enjoy food but food no longer controls my life.

4 months out!

Nov 02, 2008

I'm 4 months out and 98 lbs lighter! (45 were lost pre-op) Dang those 2 pounds, I so wanted to say I had lost 100 lbs!!  There are so many changes in the past 4 months.  Here are just a few:

*no more seat belt extender in my car
*can fit into a booth now and its comfortable
*from a 5X to a 1X (32/34 to a 22/24 and some 18/20)
*love to cook now and never did before
*tons and tons of energy
*couldn't walk for 5 min and now do jazzercise
*lost that vicious cycle of dieting and blowing it
*met so many wonderful people on OH
*can fit on rides at the amusement park

When I first decided on the VSG, I couldn't picture being truly successful and in my mind thought if I could just loose 100 lbs and maintain that loss that I would consider the surgery successful.  Well here I am on the doorstep of losing 100 lbs.  Now I wonder what I can achieve?  Is it possible to actually lose down to 150?!!!  I'm starting to have hope now!

95 lbs lost!

Oct 18, 2008

I have almost lost 100 lbs!!  I feel great.  I get compliments every single day.  I look in the mirror and can't believe it sometimes.  I keep changing sizes and have to buy more pants right now.  My 24s are all mostly too big.  I can fit into my 22s nicely and the 20s fit but are snug.  I started out wearing a 34!!!!!!

I am very excited about going to Branson next weekend.  I plan to ride all the rides with my 8 year old because I should be able to fit now.

I went to the civic center for a broadway play last weekend and fit in the seat!  Also we ate at a nice restaurant before hand and they sat us in a booth! I slid in just fine and was very comfortable.

I can eat more now that I am almost 4 months out.  I have to work it a bit more by making healthy choices.  I am tempted by those dang whole wheat ritz crackers and SF fudgesicles!!  Oh and honey roasted peanuts!!  So...old habits die hard.

I am exercising at jazzercise three days a week.  I know I should be doing more but right now I am doing good to get that in.  I really hope to have lost 100 lbs by the first of November but it is slowing down quite a bit so we will see.

85 lbs lost and size 22!

Sep 17, 2008

The scale hasn't moved in the past week but that is okay.  I am happy to be down 85 lbs.  I went to Dillards today and tried on pants.  I have so many awesome jackets thanks to my weighwise support and OH friends.  I needed some pants because mine are just too big...again!  I now wear size 22 pants!!!  I can't remember the last time I wore that size.  And....I saw a really cool outfit that was size 20 and it fit!!!  Now it was tight so I will wait a couple weeks probably to wear it but it looked so good!!!

Randy is gettting back to normal slowly.  He jokes that he didn't realize he was getting WLS.  He can't eat much more than me right now and has lost 23 lbs.  He had reflux surgery and they take part of his stomach and wrap it around the esphogus which ends up making his stomach a little smaller.

I can say that I would do this surgery again in a heartbeat!  Best thing I have done for myself!  I am loving life!
