Dee's 2010 Promises

Dec 31, 2009

I've never been very good at making or keeping New Years resolutions, and I'm not even sure I should call these goals. More like promises to myself.

Dee's 2010 Promises....

1. Start an exercise plan and stick to it.....do it even though it just downright hurts!
2. Plan more meals and do more 'real' cooking.
3. Continue to log my intake
4. Continue to stay on plan and resist temptations.
5. Hit my mini goal of 185lb by June
6. Get to my goal of 150 by Sept. 15....1 yr.

It's been a helluva year!

Dec 31, 2009

I've never been good at journals so I'm not surprised it's been over a year since I wrote anything here. But I'll try to do better! To recap 2009....

My 6mo diet went well, I lost 61lbs in the process and learned a lot, not only about life after WLS but also about myself. Some of it wasn't so pretty but it has been faced and corrected! I did learn to love low carb everything!

My surgery was on Sept. 15. When I went into surgery that Tuesday morning I wasn't scared or worried, I was excited. I'll be eternally grateful to Dr. Garth Davis for literally changing my life. I came home feeling great, just a bit of abdominal soreness, like having done too many crunches at the gym. At only 10 days out I went to Dallas for the weekend to attend the OH Conference and had a blast!

I'm now about 3.5mo out and I haven't been sick, nauseous or had any vomiting, etc. None of the things we read about and every non-WLS person warns you about! There's no food I can't eat although there are quite a few things I don't care to have so I choose not to eat them. I still don't know if I dump or not, I've never tested the limits and have been following all the rules. I can't decide if I hope I dump or not, both has their advantages! So far I've had a very uneventful recovery.

The only part that I'm still falling behind on is exercise. My knees still hurt 24/7 which makes any exercise painful, it's hard to jump up and inflict more pain on yourself! But it was part of my deal with Dr. Garth so I WILL get an exercise thing going this next year.

First of many dates

Dec 15, 2008

I've been a member here for almost a month, reading the forums and learning so much from everyone. It has been an eye opening progression! But thankfully through reading of these posts it has helped me decide to go ahead and persue the surgery.

Last Wednesday, Dec 10, I attended Dr. Robert Davis' seminar. Doug went with me, we were very impressed with Dr. Robert. He answered all my questions before I could even ask them! I got the plan packet and started going down the list of things to do.

Today I made my first appointment with Dr. Garth Davis! Jan 12 is almost a month away. I see folks announce their dates for surgery but I don't think I've seen any for the first Dr.s visit so I'm not gonna mention it. I've already asked my quotta of dumb questions!
