I have been struggling with my weight ever since I had my first child in 1991. Through out my childhood and teenage years I was very thin but once I became pregnant I gained about 40 pounds and was 185 lbs when my son was born, of course I then did not loose that weight and 3 1/2 years later had gained about 15 pounds then became pregnant with my daughter and when she was born I was 235. I did work on losing the weight right away and did lose about 35 lbs but ended up gaining it back. I have tried weight watchers, the atkins diet, even phen/fen which all worked but each time as you all know I would gain the weight back and then some. So now I am at my highest weight of 309.6 and lack energy and really do not want to do anything wich is not a good thing with 2 kids (even though they are 16 and 13 there is so much I would love to do with them but just can't right now. I also have a niece (first time aunt) and she is just over a year now and would love to be able to take her to the beach and run around and play with here as well. In 2005 I wanted to do the lap band but it was not offered up here at the time and so I went to the informational meeting about the RNY and had decided to go that way and was approved and everything also received approval from the insurance company in Dec '05. I was going to schedule but then my husband's job decided to change the insurance carrier so there was not enough time to schedule the surgery and get it done before the end of the year. The new insurance company of course required the 3 months of dietician visits (wich was not required by the other) so I decided to wait and I am glad I did because I really wanted the lap band and think that is the better fit for me. So now that they offer that here I have gone through everything again and am 3 weeks from my surgery and am so excited!!! I want to send out a great big thank you to all the people out there doing these blogs and such because it is really helping me out with questions and concerns on the before/after effects and complications etc. Thank you!!!!
