I have been researching wls for many years but always afraid I would not be able to handle it.  As the years past and I kept growing larger and larger, I became more afraid I would not live to see my youngest child grow up.

A co-worker had surgery just over 18 months ago and has had amazing results.  Others I have worked with also have had different types of wls and are having verying results.  I have noticed those who are following the plan have a lot less complications than the ones that are still eating like they did before the surgery.  So I had had mixed feelings.

In June 2012 I spoke to my PCP about the surgery and she got almost giddy that I brought up the subject on my own and we had a really great talk about the process.  I went to a seminar a week later and called the surgery center the following day.  I have been poked and proded and weighed more times than I would like to admit.

So here I am today I received word that my surgery has been scheduled for September 14th 2012.  I am very excited and ready for this journey to healthy to begin.

So far I have chosen to tell just a few people. I am not sure if I will change that as the surgery gets closer or not.  I am not good with failure and weight loss is the one area of my life I have failed at repeatedly.  So I still need to get past that fear that others will "judge" my decision and my efforts.
