Hello! I am a 28 year old mother of one. I have been over weight most of my life. In fact obesity runs in my family. My grandmother had the gastric bypass done twenty some years ago before I was even born and lost about 100 lbs. My grandmothers surgery was one of the first bypasses done in the United States. Needless to say it had just begun and was not perfected by any means. My grandmother throws up everytime she eats and has other health problems that stem from her surgery. My mother had it when I was about 4 and only lost 80 lbs., but gained it back over the corse of about ten years. My mom and I talked for sometime about this topic and she dicide as well as I to have a form of weight loss surgery done again. She opted for the Lap-Band surgery this time.

People ask me why did I get it done when it has not worked well for other women in my family. My reply to these individuals is... I am not them!

My mother and I had had our surgerys 7/26/2005 and I have lost about 60 lbs. and my mother has lost about 30 lbs. so far. I will be updating our picture real soon.
I have went down four dress sizes and couldn't be more happy. I would do it again in a heart beat! I started at 296 and now weigh 236. I've noticed I can do more things with out getting tired all of the time. I rode a ride at our community fair about a weekand a half ago. It's been several years since that last occured! My daughter was so proud of me! I was scared on the ride but proud of myself for attempting it.

It has been over a years since my surgery. I have lost a total of 154.8 lbs. I went from a size 26/28 to an 8/10 and what a world of differance it is. I can shop where ever I want to. It's great! My family is amazed when they see me. I love to see people that I haven't seen in a while. The looks on thier faces are priceless. Most people do not know who i am until I introduce myself.

I have asked my doctor if he could use me in one of his advertisements. I want other people to know what a differance the surgery has made in my life. I do things I would have never done if I was still over weight. For example: white water rafting, competed in physical compititions (and winning), and going to the beach with my family. I am crying right now because I still can not beleive it!

If anyone is contemplating having the gastric bypass I highly recommend it for healths sake!

My most updated picture should be posted in a week or so.

Maintaining my weight of 147 for about one year. I still feel wonderful (unless I eat stuff I am not suppose to). I am taking a multi vitamin, iron supplement, and b-12. I started getting really week and disoriented and my doctor ran some test to find that it was due to lack of protein and b-12.
My words of advise...... Make sure to get in your protein everyday! My doctor suggests about 70 grams of protein a day. It can be scary if you don't! Trust me!

6/18/2007 I am almost two years post op and have just found out that I am a little over 9 weeks pregnant. I have been really sick and wondering if it will stop. I already have one child (7). With my daughter I was sick for 7 and a half month, but felt good when I wasn't getting sick. This time I feel miserable all of the time! Hopefully it won't last! Besides being pregnant, I have lost another 7 pounds. I now weigh 140#'s.  I play 2nd base in softball now and love the excersize! It makes me feel really good. However the first couple time I started playing I pulled A LOT of muscles! I really did know how important it is to strech! I hadn't played ball since I was 14 and I am now 29! WOW!! Needless to say...... I now strech EVERTIME!!! LOL!
So if anyone else has had a baby since their surgery, I need some advice. I just want to know if I am just wierd or if it was difficult for you too. Also what is a good amount of weight to gain throughout the whole pregnancy?? PLEASE HELP!!
