And it begins again
Sep 10, 2014
Hello everyone,
I was last on here in May of 2005, had had my RNY and thought that everything was going to be great. Now, here I am again, about to have a revision, having gained back 74.3 pounds and with many of my co-morbidities rearing thier ugly heads.
A couple of years ago, I started having what I was told were pancratitis attacks. OMG they hurt, worse than anything I had ever experienced. The reason given was the fat content in my body. I had gained back alot of weight and knew that this was all my fault, that I had failed...again.
I am very glad to say that this is not the case. I went and had an appointment with Dr. Alexander in Dallas. He explained to me (without my saying anything about the pancreatitis) how some RNY patients from years back would have the tab of intestine left behind grow and fill with food. This filling and swelling caused immense pain shortley after eating and was often mistaken for pancreatitis! And it was NOT MY FAULT!!
So, Oct 10 I will have my revision surgery, removing the enlarged stomach, the tab and pouch and also removing 1/2 of the stomach left behind with the other surgery. My life WILL begin again without the fear of Pancreatic Cancer looming. I am so very happy
