After finallly making the decision to get serious---have taken the bull by the horns.  I have been so preoccupied with getting the preliminaries done, may have actually lost a pound or two in the process!

I teach high school physics after a career in business.  I also have a part-time job at home doing computeried quilting.  Add getting all the meetings and appointments in for this surgery and I have been a busy gal.

Unfortunately I am having to pay for all the expenses involved with my Roux -en- Y bypass myself.  I am employed by a private school and there is an exclusion on our policy for any weight loss surgery.   I am sucking it up and getting over it.

While not experiencing a lot of anguish for the extra 100 # I am carrying, I am headed for trouble and know it.  Some ankle swelling, sleep difficulties, joint pain, bone spurs, along with the public embarassment of airline seatbelts and fitting in a student desk at school...blah, blah, blah  you know the story.

Much reading and reviewing led me to Dr. Hart in Atlanta.  Every trip I make to a meeting or appointment takes me 1.5 hours.  I am taking off a lot of 1/2 days fromschool.  Having difficulty coming up with excuses at this point.  I am planning on having the surgery the first or second week after exams.  This coming week the blood work, EKG, and visit to the psychologist.  I am not crazy---I am fat!!  That's my story and I am sticking to it.

Are there many of "us" far east of Atlanta?  Are there any support groups in the Snellville, Athens areas?  Sure could use some help with this whole procedure.   Thanks for listening.
