This is my story!

Do I have a story?

I guess I do.  I am a very happy 40 year old woman.  I am a Cancer survivor. I am the proud mother of two beautiful daughters, Meghan is 17 and Larissa is 20.  I am married to the love of my life and have been for 20 years.  My wonderful, Mark.  I am an Activity Director, in a Continueing Care Retirement Community.  It is a job I love.  I am an Orthodox Christian and I have a very supportive Church Family.

I grew up in California, and married a very handsome Marine from Pennsylvania.  After he finished his tour of duty, I followed him across the country,  and this is were we have made a life for ourselves.  We have a great, extended family and love them all very much.

As a child I was always a bit larger than my classmates.  I beleived I was hideous and fat, but looking back I was just pudgy.  I was always dieting , I started at 10.  I battled the bulge very successfully until my first child was born and then it was all down hill.  I gained and lost constantly.  It was very typical.  I would lose 30 lbs. and then gain 50.  This continued for years, with my weight ever creeping higher and higher.  Until one day my doctor looked at me and said Diana you are not going to see your grandchildren if you don't do something soon.

That really shook me up!  He suggested I look into WLS since he had seen me struggle for so long.  I was diabetic, had high BP and my liver enzymes were crazy,  I was a wreck everything hurt and I would just laugh when someone suggested doing anything, going to the mall was a joke, I did good to make it through the day.  I was already as good as dead.

I researched and dieted and found the Bariatric Treatment Center in Langhorne, Pa.  I met with Dr. Marymor and he said he felt I was a good candidate.  He was willing to give me a tool that would help if I was willing to do my part to make this successful.  He and my General Practitioner helped me get insurance approval.  I started at 321lbs. and by my surgrey date I weighed in at 310lbs.

I had my WLS on 10/31/06.  I had no problems and I already feel I am on an exciting journey.

Today I weigh in at 272.  That is a lot of weight in a short period of time to me, but the most amazing thing is my blood sugar is perfect and I feel great.  No more back, leg and foot pain.  I haven't even had a headache!  I can't remember a day without a headache in the past 4 years.  My life is changing and I can hardly wait to be another WLS success story!
