8/23/07 I called the surgeon today for the consult, left a message for them to call me back. They didn't! Waaaaaaaa....! They should know that once we make the decision to do this, we want to get it done YESTERDAY!! I'll call them back tomorrow.

8/24 Okie Dokie, the ball be rollin'!

Today I made:

*appt with PCP for physical, referral and letter of necessity, exercise clearance 9/4

*appt for lab work 8/28

*appt for psych eval 9/13

Once I finish my surgeon's patient registration, diet & medical history forms, I'll mail all this stuff in and be eligable to make my consult appt. Let the party begin!

10/07 Bad news, I found out I have hypothyroidism. My primary is going to start with small doses of Synthroid and see what happens.

10/07 I found out from an ultrasound that I have gallstones. It's a good thing I know this ahead of time. I'm assuming I'll have my gall bladder removed during my RNY.

2/08 Whew, after months and months of higher doses of Synthroid, my number are FINALLY good enough. I am waiting for my primary to finish her paperwork so I can make my appointment for my consult. Sheesh, I'm a patient person. (not that I wanted to be)

2/18/08 I turned in my new patient packet. I can't wait for a call to schedule my consultation.

3/3/08 Still no word from Dr. Caruana's office. WTF? I called and left a message.

3/7/08 Nobody has called me back STILL, so I call them and leave another message. I'm called and told me that I have to redo my diet history. I also said that they never got my psych eval. I called the psych folks, they say they faxed it in October and will fax it again.

3/7/08 I call Dr. Mendonza, my primary to get my recorded weights over the years to help me with my diet history. They REFUSED to give me that info.

3/10/08 I turned in my diet history, without the help of Dr. Mendonza and staff. I'll be dropping her as my primary as soon as my surgery is done.

3/11/08 Dr. Caruana's office called me with an date for my consultation April 24.

4/24/08

Today I had my consultation. I was surprised how much I liked Dr. Caruana. I'd heard he was a bit "clinical" in personality, but we seemed it hit it off well. He was warm and interested and even a little funny. The staff even warmed up to me when they could see that Dr. C liked me. Of course, when I left there I went to McDonalds across the street. They REALLY should move that McDonalds.

5/9/08

I got that call everyone goes nuts over today, I'm APPROVED! Yes, I went nuts too. I was crying and laughing so hard when I called my husband, he couldn't understand what I was saying.

I had plans to go to the casino, but since I'd been crying (because I'm such an emotional wreck) my eyes hurt. I stayed home by myself and didn't even order a pizza. It's time to buckle down.

6/3/08

Tomorrow is the big day. Of course, I'm not ready. At the time of this writing, I still haven't packed, cleaned the fish tank, changed the bed, mopped the floors. I never took photos or measured.

I'm leaving in a few minutes to get my last "laser" treatment so I'll have attractive darker spots on my face for any photos later today and during my hospital stay.

I slept well last night, at least. I think I purposely slept in so I'd not have to "think." I'm not nervous or upset in anyway, (other than mad at myself for the procrastination) I'm just excited and ready for this to happen.

I truly do love life, and hope to be posting again, soon.
