Final Appointment before Surgery!
Feb 18, 2010
Had my final appointment with Dr. Roller & the dietician before my surgery. Dr. Roller meet with me privately - to explain the procedure, answer any questions, etc. Then, in a group setting, Dr. Roller went over the consent forms. Then the dietician went over our diet for the next 4 weeks (pre & post op diet). The diet is a lot better than the one my sister had to endure before surgery! Dr. Roller wants me to have 2 protein shakes for Breakfast & Lunch and then for supper a Lean Cuisine or a healthy meal - mindful of portion size, calories, carbs, etc. The day before surgery, I have to go on a clear liquid diet. Which is ten times better than my sister's diet! She was on clear liquids for 2 weeks. She told me the other day that she couldn't look at another can of beef broth to save her life. LOL I guess every doctor is different.Oh, had to cough up $660 today at the doctor's office. Thank goodness for income tax refunds. LOL They wanted me to bring $1250 to this appointment. I was like WHAT!!! Oh, just let me run out to my backyard & dig that up for ya! Luckily, they were willing to set up a payment plan for me ($150 a month). My deductible ($500) hasn't been met yet - of course, it's only February. I don't know many people who have! Then my 20% is $750. (The other $35 is my office copay.)
I work at the hospital I'm having the procedure done at. If they'd just file the claim a few weeks after my visit the hospital would incur the deductible. Part of the perk of working @ said hospital is they will write off my balance after my insurance pays. Then I wouldn't HAVE to pay the deductible. Oh well - can't have it all. :)
Tried to get my pre-op labwork done today, but the hospital parking was awful. So, I'll do it after work tomorrow.
