It's about time....

Jun 08, 2010

6 months since my last post!
My WL journey is taking a different direction-I'm not weighing in daily anymore. I'm tracking what I eat. I'm following the WW "point" plan. Want to be down 10 pounds by my next visit. Want to show Karen that I can really do it and I'm not a victim to my grazing. Food does not control me anymore!!!!
Colin is growing and is so much fun. Crawling, pulling himself up-such a joy in my life.
Biking again and having a blast!

Time to get serious!

Dec 09, 2009

A dreaded thing has happened-my first weight gain since surgery. A whopping 6.5 pounds. It is the grazing that kicks me all the time. I don't feel like I've been as active as I need to be because of my hip....
I am going to start writing down every last morsel that comes in contact with my mouth. This really has made me decide that I'm not baking a single thing for Christmas this year. Don't need it at all!
We are having a serious winter storm today in blizzard proportions. Hope I can get on the snowshoes real soon....

Time to be Thankful

Nov 21, 2009

Love this time of year and the chance to celebrate thankfulness for all the good things that God has given us.
Next week is Thanksgiving and I am really looking forward to it this year. A little bittersweet with Sean not being home for the first time. It could be worse, as always. I will be SO looking forward to him coming home next month. I wonder what's going to happen with his new relationship when he leaves..
Just want to get past the weight worries. I haven't been able to shed the last pounds. So, maybe I'll just have to accept this and work harder on not gaining.
Think I'll be able to bike ride this afternoon as we've been having some gorgeous weekend weather. Can't wait to get into the snowshoes this winter....
Love teaching at KCC

It's my Second Bandiversary!

Oct 26, 2009

WOW! Two years since my new beginning. Where did the 2 years go? Everyday I'm so grateful for having the band. It has been a wonderful journey and I want to continue on this ride.
I often reflect on what I've accomplished since the band and I would have never thought I would be here. I've lost over 80 pounds, I've conquered the DALMAC and I've become a grandmother. Life is so wonderful to me. I've grown and walked closer to Him, who I praise and give thanks daily. He helps me to become a humble servant of Him.
I wish I could give Dr. Verseman a big hug. He has given me a gift that I can't repay...
Things haven't been "easy," but truly better for me!
P.S. This has been such a spectaclar fall with glorious colors. Been trying to get outdoor riding in as much as I can....

Octobrrrr.....

Oct 11, 2009

WOW, it's been over a month since my last blog. Still trying to get as much riding in outside as I possibly can. It's been darn cold-today was it got only to 46 degrees. But the colors are beautiful!!!!
Spoke at a Bariatric seminar yesterday-spontaneously. Talked about my two years of being a lapbander. What a wonderful journey it has been........I am still in love with Dr. V.
Colin is starting to smile a lot and laugh. He is such a jewel......

I'm Normal!!!

Sep 09, 2009

My motto has always been "Why be normal?" Today I was told by Karen, PA that I'm normal. I've never been normal. My weight has finally dropped to get me into the "Normal" BMI range . FEELS SO GOOD!!!
The DALMAC was so much fun. Can't believe I never had to stop and walk up a hill. There were SO many hills. 285 miles in 4 days.. The people I went with, Team Oberon, were great! They are a bunch of gentlemen and Michelle was the sweetest person..
The only bad thing was getting lost for a few miles. It was pretty scary-the SAG guy, Joel, had to come get me. The other thing was that my tent pole broke-bless Dave, Matt and Scott for helping me with that one..
The weather was pristine!!! No wind, sunny.
Can't get over that it is  already over.....

1000 miles

Aug 24, 2009

This weekend was a real milestone for me. I have logged 1000 miles on my bike this summer. I never, ever got this close before. It felt so good to see the odometer on my bike turn the 1000 mark-WOOHOOO.
Next week is the DALMAC and I am SO looking forward to it. Rode with the group, yesterday, and had a marvelous time traveling in the NE part of Kazoo County. Just looking forward to it is a milestone as before I would have dreaded it.
Colin is a real cutie!!!
Love being a Grandma!
P.S. Kallie weighs 121 pounds

August Already

Aug 16, 2009

Colin is a month old already! Starting to smile and laugh. What a cutie he is. What a very bright spot in my life. I thank God for bringing this little man into my life. Megan is being such an awesome Mother. I am so proud of her! She is really holding her guns with breastfeeding him.
Two-plus weeks till DALMAC. Cycling strong. Have almost 800 miles on the bike, so far, this season. Saturday is our DALMAC planning get-together. Can't wait to go this year. Other years I would be dreading it.... Beginning to love hill work-outs. I am over my fear of downhills. Went down the H Ave hill and really enjoyed it.....
I think my weight is starting to go downwards, too.

Grandmahood

Jul 26, 2009

The most amazing person entered my life on July 16. He is my grandson, Colin James. When I first saw him, I thought he was the most perfect, beautiful child I've ever seen. He is truly  a miracle. The thing I find even more interesting is my child becoming a parent. It is so satisfying to see her as a mother.
When Jack found out that Megan has Colin, he cried. I was too excited.
Ahh Grandmahood. I think I'm going to like it just fine......

I DID IT!!!

Jul 12, 2009

I was really nervous before the KalTour ride. I was afraid I couldn't handle the hills and the distance. What would you know, but I did the entire metric century 63.5 miles. I am so proud of myself. The thing that really amazed me that I did the incredibly long, steep 6th street hill and didn't bail out. YEEEHAW. Strong legs and fewer pounds does it all the time!!!
It was an incredible ride. Not too hot, great scenery. Just had a little head-wind the last 10 miles. Rode with a few of the people that are doing the DALMAC in September. Going to be a great group......
Now I feel so strong!!!
