I think these months are just flying! I looked at my last posts and they were a month ago1 WOW.  Didn't get enough road miles in last month, but still feel like a strong bike rider. Already have close to 60 in this month already. Will go to a group ride this evening. I decided to ride the 62 mile Kal-Tour on Sunday which incudes the 6th St monster hill. I CAN DO IT!
Went on the White Pine Trail on Saturday with Judy and Phyllis. What a nice trail. A great combo between urban and country... Kinda cool 4th of July...
2 more weeks till baby Colin is here. can't wait. His nursery is SO cute...

OMG Moment

Can't believe I'm going to post twice in one day, but had such an OMG moment on the morning bike ride with the ladies, I couldn't believe it. I have been road biking even when I was major heavy. My bike has drop handle bars. Never went to the bottom of the drop bars because I had too much of a stomach in the way. Today I gave it a try and I couldn't believe I could reach them and still be able to breathe...... I was so excited. Now I have to remind myself to use them more often. WOO HOO.
26.6 miles at a 15.30 pace-not bad for an old lady grandma

June!!!!

It's been a month since my last blog and I have promised myself that I would blog more often.
Training for the DALMAC has been going pretty well. Just not enought time in a day. Today I will ride with a group of women. It beats riding alone outside all the time. I think it will be easier to get more miles in that way.
The major plateau I have been in seems to be breaking. I decided that there will be absolutely no eating between meals except for a very small protein snack. Want to loose ten more pounds before DALMAC. Seems to make bike riding so much easier, especially hills. Did some killer hills on Sunday. Need to do that route more often.....
Job is really slow, but hopefully will pick up very soon.
First baby shower for Megan last week. Only 7 more weeks till Mr. Colin is here. Got to talk to him and feel him move........ Can't wait to meet him

Map my Ride

Just had to write a short blog comment about a really cool website called "Map my Ride." So cool for the bicyclist as it shows bike routes people have posted around the area. I appreciate that as I need a little more variety in my DALMAC training quest. It also lets you post your fitness training and goals. Love it, so far......
I got out and rode yesterday. It was absolutely perfect-cool, no wind.
I am getting more confident with the hills and, gee, it is getting a lot easier to go up....
I'm falling in love with cycling again.
The daughter is 28 weeks pregnant and looking cute......
Can't wait for the Colin-man to arrive :-)

Burnin' thighs

My bicycle epic continues. Trying to get as much road time as I can. The weather hasn't been most cooperative. It's been a rainy, windy spring. Last week we, my sister and I, were going to go and it thunderstormed. Yesterday, I sent her and e-mail and said let's go today. So, we went at 3. The headwinds were so strong. I think they were 20-2 mph wind. We rode to Kendall via Kal-Haven trail and did a portion of road on the way back. 30 miles altogether.
My thighs are a burnin. I averaged 15 mph. Not bad for the hills and the wind....

Why is it?

Today I went for a bike ride thinking that "OK I'll only go XXX amount of miles" I kept riding and riding. I even did the big neighborhood hill. It is so awesome to be able to conquer that particular hill so early in the season. I felt so exilharated. I kept going and going and did another decent sized hill.
My biggest fear is the downhill (due to my accident), so I made sure I did some steep downhills and I know I can conquer that too.
Why is it that you get exercising and you want to keep going and going and not stop?
Now to walk the dogs....

April Already

Mid April already. I'm trying to get in as much endurance exercise in as possible till the weather gets better for more road riding. Spin class sure is a blessing. If I work my upper body and core muscles I can be a better,stronger rider. Been doing that at least 2-3 times a week.
Need to get the bike in better mechanical shape.
Saturday is the Bariatric Reunion. Can't wait for that. Will be good to see my friends and Dr. V who rocks

First outdoor ride

I fixed my cleats yesterday and tested them on my pedals this morning and they work and release just fine. So, myself says to me, "Why don't you go on a ride, it's only 47 balmy degrees?" So, I bundled up and hit the road only planning on a mile or so. But, I kept riding and riding, and did a few hills. Before I knew it, I did eight miles. Not bad for the first ride, eh?

DALMAC Attack!!

I cannot believe that I signed up for the DALMAC ride this September. It came up all of the sudden on Monday when I ran into Dave at spin class. He asked me if I wanted to go with him and a really nice group of people. I rode with them on the MS150 a couple of years ago and had a wonderful time......
I am going to blog as I train. There is going to be so much bike riding that I'll have to do prior to the ride. I CAN DO IT! I weigh 35 pounds less than when I did it in '95. I am in much better shape. I CAN DO IT!!!!
We are doing the 4 day East route!!!!!! 303 glorious miles

How long will this go on?

Tommorow I will see Karen, the PA, at the Dr's office. I want to be in the 150's so bad, but I don't think I'll get there this time. This has been the toughest ten EVER!! I have given up peanut butter for Lent. That has been kind of hard...... I've been trying to stop grazing.
These past few weeks have been really stressful with the economy and such... Can't cope with food anymore
Found out the grandbaby will be a boy. Went to the Ultrasound on Monday and saw the little one in action. What a wonderful thing. The bright spot in our lives
