FIRST FILL UNDER XRAY

Dec 11, 2008

I got my fill on Wednesday 12/10/08 and I can tell an immeidate difference. I have always had restriction but now I am back at 4 oz instead of 6 or 8 oz. I am still averaging .5 to 2 lbs a week. I have lost almost 30 lbs in less than 2 months so I am really exciting. The main thing for me is staying motivated to exercise. That is mandatory. I still walk at least 3 days a week but I feel I need to do more to optimize my tool. I will post more updated pics shortly. God Bless to everyone and enjoy this new time in your life to a healthier YOU!!!

First Fill a no go

Nov 25, 2008

Well I went to the Doctor 11/18/08 and I really didnt need a fill but I wanted one because I don't want my weight loss to slow up. Well it has slown up and I am making a few changes. Like incorporating more physical activity into my day. I will go on 12/10/08 to have the fill done under xray. He could not get to my port and was poking around too much for me. So we both decided that an Xray would be more appropriate. I am still losing so I will not stress that part. The main thing I want to stess to my OH family is just because they say you can eat it. Doesnt mean you have to. For example I can eat toasted wheat bread. However, starch is not my friend so I try to avoid it. I can also tolerate sugar. That's not my friend either. This is a lifelong commitment and as I get better my weight will get better but we all must realize things take time.

TWO WEEK UPDATE

Nov 07, 2008

Ok well I went for my two week follow up appointment on Tuesday 11/4/08 (election day so I had to vote early). And Dr. Macdonald was very pleased with my progress I am still holding at 18 lbs since I started the pre-op diet. I am gradually incorporating more exercise which will help significantly. I had my staples removed. I still can lift anything over 10lbs (my little angel). I can do light weight lifting in about 2 more weeks. I will start using free hand weights to try and tone as much as possible. All in all things went well. I am still on mushys until next Friday. The real test is when I start eating solids. Right now I am still never hungry. I only remember to eat when I hear my stomach growl. So I am still drinking protein shakes to supplement.

1 WEEK UPDATE

Oct 24, 2008

Ok it's been 1week and I weighed and have lost 6lbs since surgery thats 14lbs total including my pre op weight loss. I still can't believe it I always thought if you lost that fast it was only water. But I am following my liquid plan and walking 15-30 minutes daily. I don't go back to work for a few days, that's the real test working and fiding that 30 minutes to work out. But it has to be done. I have new founded will power. I have to resist eating solids even though I have to feed the kids. All and All it's going well.

Oct 22, 2008

Ok update. Its almost a week since I consumed solid foods. I'm doing ok, I got a little dizzy so I called the Doctor and the nurse said to make sure I'm gettin in my fluids. I had been measuring and timing meals. They said just sip sip sip all day. As long as I'm not hurting I should be fine.
8am- 2 oz Shake
9am 8 oz H2O
10am 2 oz shake
11am 2oz cream of chiken (strained)
12pm 8oz H2O
1pm 2oz Shake
2pm 8oz H2O
3pm 2oz Shake
4pm 2oz cream of chicken(strained)
5pm 8oz H2O
6pm 2oz Shake
7pm oz H2O
8pm 2oz Cream of Chicken
Well, after all that they told me to make sure I sip all day and don't worry about all the measuring until I get to my musshy food stage.
Still haven't weighed myself but I think I will on Friday. My one week mark.

THE DAY IS FINALLY HERE!!!!

Oct 19, 2008

I arrived to the hospital at 5:30 a little late but hey. They were ready for me They put me in the prep room and started my IV. gave me a little shot in my tummy to prevent blod clots. I stayed there around an hour. Then they moved me to the Anastesia prep room where like 10 people came and asked the same questions any allergies etc. I guess they just wanted to make sure there were no slip ups.
They gave me these things for my legs to prevent blod clots that kept squeezing then releasing. Then Dr. MacDonald came in and we spoke for a bit. At this point heck no I aint have no ?s lets just do this thing man. SO I was given a "calming" drug and transported to Operating room. I thought I was on House(tv show). I have never had an operation and I was just looking around until they gave me the real deal and I passed out.
I was told the procedure took about 2 hours. And I was placed in recovery about an hour then transported to my room.
The pain wasnt that bad. I was on a morphine pump but that gave me a headache so then they had to order me something for that. Since I have migraines my head was hurting worst than my 7 incisions. I was able to go home the next day (sat) after they did an Xray to make sure things were going down properly. Now I am on 60ccs(2oz) of ensure w/protein every 2 hours with water in between and I am doing well.  I am going to attempt to go walking. I'll keep you posted.

I have a SURGERY DATE!!!!

Oct 08, 2008

Ok so I met with the doctor on Tuesday, October 7, 2008. My mother went with me because my husband had class. Dr. MacDonald is extremly imformative. He answered alot of my questions just with his general spill about the surgery. And the questions he didn't cover he was obliged to answer. My mother even had a few questions. Now.... no he didn't come in and try to be my friend and he was very blount and direct. But he did make eye contact and shake my hand which to me are signs of respect. Also gave a quick smile here and there. He seems really knowledgeable and that's what I need to feel a little more secure. My date is next Friday, October 17, 2008. I am on Adkins for the rest of this week and next week. I will probably put myself on a ligquid(hollywood) type diet about 3 days before just to make sure a lose at least 5 lbs. before I go in. Of course my weight loss wont be as fast as those who have RNY but I will lose and that is the goal. There is also less chance of my hair falling out because the nutrients from my food will still be deposited directly into my body. And vain as I am I need my hair. I was told by a nice lady in the lobby that Biotin is great for hair restoration if anyone needs it. Shoot, I may need it who knows. OK so here we go.........
