May 2015- Hello everyone.  It's been awhile.  Hope you all are continuing to do well on this journey.  I recently had my 9 year surgiversary. I've had major stressors over the past couple of years.  My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and now needs 24 hour supervision. Also, my dad passed away suddenly of a heart attack 7 months ago.  My life has changed drastically. Sadly, my wls was no longer my top priority.  To date.... I've gained back 35lbs.  Not bad for 9 years but I know that if I don't get back on track NOW, things will quickly spiral out of control.  I've gotten advice from the "Back on Track" forum and have started the Back to Basics plan.  I've lost 5lbs so far of my regained weight.  I'm sure many of us have experienced a few setbacks since our surgery. Just remember...we are in this together. There's no turning back now. Let's continue to work this amazing tool.  Updates to come.

I've been overweight my entire life and I've tried every diet that you can possibly imagine.  WLS is my last resort.  My consultation is scheduled with Dr. Chiang for November 3, 2005.  I'm looking forward to a new, healthy life.

NOV. 29, 2005- My consultation with Dr. Chiang went well.  I was extremely excited once I left his office.  I did encounter a major set back with my insurance company, but that's been all cleared up now.  My insurance will be excluding the surgery as of June 2006.  That gives me enough time to get all of my pre op testing done and all the paperwork submitted.  I'm almost done with my pre op testing.  All I have left is the sleep study and the EGD.  I hope to have some type of answer from Compcare
Blue by the end of December.

DEC. 16, 2005- Well I should have known that something else would go wrong. My EKG is abnormal so I now have to go in for a stress test and an ECHO (ultrasound of the heart).  I get a little frustrated at times just wondering how many hoops I have to jump through before I'm approved.  The sleep study went well.  I do not need to wear a CPAP machine, so that's one good thing I guess.  I also had the EGD.  I was so nervous and got myself all worked up for nothing.  The nurse started an IV and we made small talk for a few minutes.  Dr. Chiang arrived and we talked for a
minute also.  The nurse then told me that she was going to administer the medicine to sedate me.  The next thing I knew, I woke up in recovery and was ready to go home. I did not remember anything about the procedure. I will update again soon.

JAN. 11, 2006- All testing completed.  Must attend support group meetings and follow up with psychologist.  The waiting game begins.

MAR. 9, 2006- IT'S OFFICIAL!!!!! I'M APPROVED!!!!!!!!!

               YIPPPPPPEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

MAR. 30, 2006- I'VE GOT A DATE!  May 3, 2006.  I never thought I'd make it to this point guys.  I feel so excited but also scared as hell right now.  I worry all the time now.  I worry about being off work, my bills, my children, my success, my parents, my life.  Everything!! Keep me in your prayers.  I will update once I'm on the losing side.

THE NIGHT BEFORE SURGERY

MAY 6, 2006- I'm HOOMMMMMMEEEEE!!!.  Surgery went well.  Just having problems getting all protein and water in.  I'm sure it will get better.  I had some pain initially in the hospital afterwards, but I have not needed any pain meds since I've been home.  I'm driving the kids to school and going to the mall and grocery store already.  All praises to God!! I pray that I will continue to be complication free.

JUNE 12, 2006- Things are slowly moving along.  It's been almost 6 weeks and I've lost 26lbs so far.  I gotta get started with an exercise program.  Just can't seem to get into the groove of things.  I feel tired and have alot of headaches daily.  I'm doing better with the protein intake but still working on getting the water in.  I'm able to eat a variety of things but anything with ground beef does not work too well.  I'm gonna steer clear of this meat for awhile.  Talk to you guys next month.

JULY 5, 2006- Wow, has it been 2 months already??  Well, I've been feeling pretty good so far.  I'm down a total of 32lbs now.  Eating pretty much anything I want, but just small portions.  I'm not losing as fast as I thought, and that's due to my inconsistencies with exercise and water intake.  I really need to get on the ball and work this TOOL like I know
that I should.  At my last check up with Dr. Chiang my labs were good.  I no longer have to take the B12 supplements.  My iron is up but not as much as my doctor would like so I'm continuing to take the Fergon tablets.  Most importantly, I no longer need my CPap machine, my asthma has improved, and my energy level is much better.  Can't wait to see what's next!!!!!

AUG. 3, 2006- Three months postop today!!! 40lbs down so far.  I feel good.  I'm losing slowly, but I'm losing.  I have more energy now.  No more laying in the bed all day.  Doing more things with family and enjoying life a little bit more.  My co-workers keep telling me how good I look.  What a nice feeling.  Eating is going okay.  Still working on getting in all my fluids and exercise.  Oh yeah, my hair is shedding like CRAZZZZYY!!!!  AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See ya next month.

SEPT. 7, 2006- Hey guys.  Well it's been four months since my surgery and everything's been in slow motion.  I'm down 47lbs.  Thinking about joining Curves.  I need some type of structured exercise program.  My hair is still shedding, but not as much.  I started taking biotin and giving myself Nexxus "Emergencee" treatments every week.  This has helped tremendously.  I hope this phase is over soon.  I also found a good protein drink that I can tolerate.  It's called Isopure.  The best thing about it is that it's a JUICE, NOT MILK!!  One drink contains 40 GRAMS OF PROTEIN!!!! The orange is my favorite(kind of tastes like tang).  It's kind of expensive($3.50 a bottle), but worth it if you're unable to tolerate the milk or powder products.

OCT. 4, 2006- 5 months post op- continuing to lose very slowly.  Down 55lbs so far.  I guess I can't complain because it's more that I've ever lost before.  I started exercising more so that should help me out.  I'm also getting tips from BAF(Thanks, guys).  I'm noticing loose skin on my thighs and arms.  Not cute!  My energy level has skyrocketed and I'm on the go more than ever.  I'm down to a size 20(started at a 26).  I feel great and thank God that I've had no complications.  Signing off 'til next month.

NOV. 2, 2006- SIX MONTHS POST OP!!! Well guys, I'm half way to my goal.  61lbs lost so far.  I went to the grand opening of our new Bayshore Town Centre Mall.  Too many stores!!! I didn't make it to even half of them.  I did get to try on lots of clothes.  And to my surprise, the size 18 pants I tried on was loose!! I was pleasantly shocked.  I also tried on a size 16 dress and it was a little loose also.  I never thought that I have fun going shopping.  I need to put myself on a budget (gotta stop spending the bill money LOL).

Dec. 5, 2006- 7 mths out.  4 more pounds down for a total of 65lbs.  Feeling great.  I can now walk up a flight of stairs with no problem!!!  MERRY

CHRISTMAS everyone!!!!!!

FEBRUARY 7, 2008-  Hello my peeps..........Wow, it's been a while.  I must say things have been going fabulous.  To date, I am down.......................... 103lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it! I finally made it to the CENTURY CLUB....LOL!!  To anyone out there that may be struggling or getting discouraged because their weight loss is slowing down, take it from me, give it time.  Plateaus happen.  You will have a break through eventually.  Remember to drink your water, take your vitamins, and EXERCISE.  Until next time.......Luv Ya'll.  New pics to come.

JULY 2008-   I can't believe that I'm two years out already!!!  I must admit I've had my ups and downs but this journey has been amazing.  I'd definitely do it all over again.  My weight loss slowed down and just when I thought I was done losing, I decided to take it back to the basics.  I went back to the proteins supplements.  Found a fantastic product that helped me get back on track with my weight loss..........NUTRILITE PROTEIN DRINKS R EXCELLENT.  I love the taste and with 25gms of protein in each serving, I can get in my extra protein with ease.  And let's not forget about our HAIR HAIR HAIR HAIR, ladies!!!  I've noticed a significant improvement in the growth of my hair since getting in the extra protein and also adding the NUTRILITE HAIR, SKIN, AND NAILS vitamin to my daily regimen.  I get sooooo many people asking me how did I keep my hair and I simply tell them.......... my hair did shed ALOT!!  But once I added these two supplements, I began to notice a change for the better.  My hair is almost back to its presurgery state...lol.  I'm sooooo EXCITED!  These products can be ordered through QUIXTAR.COM along with other products you may be interested in.  Please give my member ID when you place your order so that I can get a discount on my next order.
IBO # 5423288      &  KEY  (BOL).  Let me know how they work for you.  I'm now down 115lbs!! Size 12 pants and Medium tops!!  HOW 'BOUT THAT?!?!!??  Much love and success to everyone.
