TWO WEEKS OUT

Mar 16, 2010

I had my surgery on March 3 at OSU Medical Center with Dr. Dean Mikami.  I was pleased with the entire experience overall.

I arrived a little before 5 am and the admitting department was not open yet so my mother and I waited.  I was the second one in the door and they got my paperwork ready and took me to another floor for pre-op.  There I stripped butt naked and put on two gowns one facing back and one facing front.  An RN came in to talk to me and my family to tell us what was going to happen.  I was taken to the surgery floor and my family went to wait in the Atrium.  I was in a large, noisy room with lots of other pre-ops waiting.  The anesthesiologist, Dr. Szabo, inserted an IV and asked a few questions.  She and the nurse anesthetist wheeled me into the operating room and I remember the Dr. complimenting me on my beautiful teeth.  That's about all she wrote.

I woke in the recovery room with a nurse and me begging for drugs!!  She was trying to get my pain under control and I was really out of it.  I don't really remember the ride to my room but my mother and husband were there to meet me.  I had to share a room, but it was no big deal, as I made friends with my roomy.  She had had gastric bypass 2 years ago and was in for a "ginormous ulcer" (funny how HIPPA goes out the window when you share a room).  Anyway, I want to give a shout out to Cindy for making sure my needs were met on the last day.  :)

I was there 2 1/2 days and my stay was as good as could be expected when you're in pain.  I loved my little pain button, I really did NOT want to give that sucker up!  And once, I pulled my IV out and some leads off my chest and the night nurse was so sweet about the entire thing.  I was also serenaded by one of the night nurses doing Sinatra.  I was laughing so hard, I had to hold my stomach.  **Jazz Hands**

My recovery has, I think, been quite quick.  I visited my surgeon yesterday and his entire office was amazed at my quick healing, how well I was doing and the neatness and quality of my food journal.  I always DID know how to kiss major butt.  As of yesterday, I have lost 12 frakkin' pounds.  In your FACE fat cells!!!
