It Did Happen...Just not as soon as I thought.

Apr 14, 2010

Insurance denied us. After another denial and an appeal we were finally approved.

Nikki and I had our surgery on April 6th. Finally on our way. Everything went well, no complications. I've actually been surprised at how quick the recovery has been, although I still get tired easily.

Just trying to get used to my pouch. On liquid stage for one more week. Then Stage 2 we get to add soft veggies and fruit, fish and eggs.  Looking forward to the change. Thank God for sugar free popsicles.  Some foods smell awful.  Sweets have always been my downfall. Now sugar free foods and most protein shakes/shots tastes too sweet. I realized tonight I miss crunchy. Never thought about texture being an issue.

I'll be glad when all this is just a memory. (More of my impatience showing). I want to get to the point where eating is not something I think about that much, just something I do for necessity and nutrition like most thin people seem to do.  Just think, now being thin can finally happen. I can't wait.  PATIENCE, PATIENCE, PATIENCE.

I finally feel like it's going to happen!

Dec 02, 2009

After being on this website for slightly over a year now I finally feel like the surgery will happen.  My daughter -in-law, Nikki, and I are doing this together.  We've had several bumps in the road (waiting on a pre-existing clause on my insurance and having to change to a different doctor) now we finally have hope.   Today we met our new doctor, Dr. Michael Williams, and his office staff, and were really impressed.  Everyone there, from the Dr. to the receptionist was friendly, really personable, treating us with an encouraging helpful attitude.   We had already completed all the steps required by our insurance company when the doctor change became necessary. We tranferred all our files over and everything was filed for approval with the insurance company yesterday, before we ever met them face to face.  Wow!

I'd like to send a special thank you to anyone that spoke with us at the Atlanta O.H. Event about our issues.  Several people recommended a change because as they put it "If you're not receiving support now from your doctor's staff, you definately won't have it after the surgery".  Most importantly, I want to say thanks to Ginger Rock, with her beautiful spirit and encouraging support, we feel like we are on track now.

Still hoping for a date this month.  We'll see......
