My husband and I went to the information meeting last night. My husband is being very supportive. I knew some of what was covered already by reading this mesg board so often. I have filled out my packet and mailed it back. They said the nurse is booked out till August. So I guess I just have to sit back and wait to see if I get a call. In the meantime I have to write a letter to give to the nurse if I see her. It was hot, humid and raining when the meeting let out. The hospital was under a "Code Black" for a tornado watch/warning. I hope that's not an omen.

I go to the information meeting on Tuesday afternoon! At last I will feel like something is happening in what seems like such a slow process.

GWEN~~ I am almost a year post-op and I am not miserable- I can eat about 1/4 to 1/2 a sandwich for a meal but, the amount that I eat (or can't eat) doesn't bother me- I socialize in "eating" settings (doing lunch and parties) I don't have a problem finding something to eat- and it's kind of a running joke about "sharing meals" and me being a "cheap date".... at first it was hard to get used to the "head" part of missing food, but it's not that difficult anymore. WISHING YOU THE BEST ON YOUR WLS JOURNEY

Gwen, I glad to see you've started your WLS journey...did I do that? My house had lots of dust...but up until now it's just because I'm lazy:)

Hi Gwen- Thanks for the enouraging posts! I tried to send you an e-mail but it didn't work???? I really want to be a part of a support group but it seems like people don't go farther than saying they want to join one. Maybe you and I can set up a date at a restaurant, post it and see who comes. Let me know what you think. Thanks wendy

Dusting "A house becomes a home when you can write "I love you" on the furniture." I can't tell you how many countless hours that I have spent CLEANING! I used to spend at least 8 hours every weekend making sure things were just perfect -"in case someone came over". Then I realized one day that no one came over; they were all out living life and having fun! Now, when people visit, I find no need to explain the "condition" of my home. They are more interested in hearing about the things I've been doing while I was away living life and having fun. If you haven't figured this out yet, please heed this advice. Life is short. Enjoy it! Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better to paint a picture or write a letter, bake a cake or plant a seed, ponder the difference between want and need? Dust if you must, but there's not much time, with rivers to swim and mountains to climb, music to hear and books to read, friends to cherish and life to lead. Dust if you must, but the world's out there with the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair, a flutter of snow, a shower of rain. This day will not come around again. Dust if you must, but bear in mind, old age will come and it's not kind. And when you go - and go you must - you, yourself will make more dust! It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived.
