I started this journey on April 26, 2010 weighing 257lbs. I knew I had to do something to help myself since my younger brother passed away on October 15, 2009 from heart and kidney disease at the age of 49. I was scared of what my diagnosis would be further down the line and I knew I did not have the strength to endure all the hardships he had suffered through for all those years. All the surgeries, dialysis sessions and medications.
I am grateful to my insurance company for approving and paying for this surgery, my family for their loving support through these past 9 weeks and my friends for their undying love and commitment. I know as the days, months and years go by I will work hard to stay this course and provide myself with many years of good health.
