I'm 30 years old and I'd say I'm decently accomplished, but there are somethings I haven't been able to do...because of my weight. The biggest? Having children. I would kill to have a baby with my sweetheart. He's going to be a killer dad, I just know it!

But also, I haven't been able to do normal stuff - like fly in one seat on a plane (without an extender!), sit comfortably at a public event like a concert or live game (Go CHIEFS!). I'd love to be able to exercise without feeling like I'm going to die two minutes in... or heck, just go up a flight of stairs!

I didn't decide surgery overnight. This was a well thought out process and there have many, many attempts at weight loss that just failed. FAILED. But who hasn't? I decided to do the surgery when my doctor started talking about shots. Taking my blood sugar information with constant pin pricks. Add to that the fact that the same disease, diabetes, killed my mom, well it scared the day lights out of me. So here I am.

Wish me luck... I'm going to need it!
