I have the typical life story... many of my family members battle weight, I've been over weight much of my life, etc. Like so many others, I want a better quality of life. I want to be around for my family. I want to go kayaking along the Lake Superior shoreline!
I've been looking into WLS for a few years now. I've tried many weight loss programs with initial sucess but ended up weighing as much if not more a year later.
I started my official journey in December, 2006 with a seminar and consultation from Dr. Ikrammuden's office.
As of April 2007, I'm still going through the prerequisites for surgery. I'm still researching which surgery, RNY or Duodenal Switch, will be right for me. I'm hoping to have surgery the summer of 2007.
I've spent the past few months trying to make some positive changes in my life style, changes that will be definite after surgery. I've committed to exercising at least 2 times a week, I've cut out pop and sweets and am cutting back on my carbs and increasing my protein. Easter was very hard with the sugar. I did better than I had a year prior ;) With the exception of Easter, I've been doing great and feeling great!
I can't wait to be on the losing side!
