I'm from Brazil, and that's where my surgery took place...on March 27th, 2004. I self paid...or I should say my mom paid for my surgery. My cousin is one of the best doctors in the country and his team operated on me. It felt safer that way. I have a Fobi pouch.
Like most WLS patients I've struggled with my weight since I was a child. Went on my first diet (taking pills and all) when I was 11. The dieting yo-yoed my way to 265lbs a few months ago (2003.) My heaviest was about 280...a few years ago.
Before surgery I was pretty depressed, I couldn't sleep, had heartburn, urinary incontinence, shortness of breath, etc. All of that is gone now.
