Hello. My name is Bill. Glad you stopped by! Like many of you I have been overweight for most of my life. I did go through a skinny period in my mid to late 20's, but I had to starve myself to get down to 225 lbs. Needless to say I gained my weight back and then some. I have participated in several weight loss programs, and tried Atkins for 3-4 months until it became extremely boring.
I was interested in the Lap-Band, but have since decided that the Vertical Sleeve is the surgery for me. A co-worker had this procedure done last summer and she has had a great experience with the procedure and her weight loss.
I have been to a seminar and have been through the preliminary medical evaluation at MMPC in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This was in May 2007. I was turned down at the time due to the BCBS insurance restrictions. I started seeing my doctor each month for a weigh-in, diet counseling, blood pressure monitoring, etc. I have had the same family doctor for 13 years and he supports my decision to pursue weight loss surgery.
I hope to have surgery in the spring of 2008.
