8 Weeks

Dec 12, 2008

I am offically 8 weeks post op and I feel pretty good.  I am down 71 lbs and 4 shirt and pants sizes.  I am back to shopping at Lane Bryant and Avenue.  It is nice to walk into the store and be able to pull something off the rack and not worry if will fit or not.  I am back working with my trainer and trying to exercise everyday.

Finally Post-op

Oct 19, 2008

It's been a while so I thought I would post an update.  I had my surgery on 10/9 and the surgeon had to do a hernia repair also (hey when in rome - LOL!).  I do not remember much about recovery but once I was to my room I saw my DH and took a little nap. By 6 - I was asking to get up and walk.  That night I took 2 walks.  The next day, had my UGI (which was fine) and started sipping liquids.  I felt great - nothing as to what I expected to feel.  I was jogging up and down the halls, taking fluids in with no problems.  I was discharged Saturday and took myself off of all pain killers.  I came home with a drain which was removed on Wed and I was started on Pureed foods.  I have not had any issues with food (besides chicken making me nauseous) and no issues with liquids.  I am taking in at least 60 ounces of liquid per day and at least 80 gms of protein.  I never thought I would feel this good!!  We went a birthday party at the pumpkin patch yesterday - I stood for the entrie legnth of the party (3 hrs) did a ton of walking around and still felt good - not at all like I had major surgery.

Pre-op Testing....check

Aug 03, 2008

I completed all of my preop testing and had a bit of a scare - my EGD showed a "bump" in the lower part of my esophagus.  The GI biopsied it and it came back clean - although in my follow up he kept telling me "it should of been cancer" - whatever.

All of my paperwork was submitted last Tuesday and I am anxiously awaiting my "date".  When I spoke with Dr Eid's secretary she was telling me the avaliable dates and one was 8/21 - which is my birthday.  I am hoping the insurance company comes back quickly with an answer so I could snag that date!!!

Updates.....

May 27, 2008

Seems like forever since I have been here - so much has happen.  I fractured my ankle in February and finally got my cast off the beginning of May.  I completed my six months but I have rebounded some of the wt lost due to the mobility issues.  Met with the suregon on Friday and I need to lose more weight because my BMI is still pretty high (65) and if I do not lose the extra I will have to have an Inferior Vena Cava Filter placed through my neck and threaded into my heart so if a blood clot would break off the device would bust the clot so it would not kill me.   Hmmm........ there was no tough decision there - I am on 2 shakes a day and lean cuisine for dinner (I have to stay at 1000 calories).  I have most of my preop testing scheduled for the month of June.  So...wish me luck!!!

2.  To be under 300lbs.
3.  To walk and walk and walk and say that I have walked all day and then be tired.
4.  Go back to Disney or any other amusement park and enjoy myself and ride ALL of the rides with my son.
5.  To not have my husband walk my son around the zoo(or where ever we are) and me sit my fat butt on the bench and wait for them.
6.  To go outside and play even if it is 90 degrees.
7.  To no longer shop at a plus-sized store.
8.  Jeans and 3" heels.
9.  Not be tired all the time.
10.  Walk on the treadmill more than 15 minutes.
11.  Run on the treadmill.
12.  To soak in a bubble bath and feel comfortable.
