6 Weeks Out

Dec 20, 2011

6 Weeks out and down 33 pounds....Wow. When I started this and they told me I had a goal weight of 143lbs I started thinking... ok.... so roughly what I weighed in Middle School ...so 10-11 years ago. I am already widdleing away those years of gaining weight I am back were I was 3 yrs ago....Oh wow. By mid to late January I will hopefully be under 200 for the first time in 4 1/2 years (since I was 19!!).  This adventure has been my best so far and is already effecting me in ways I never would have imagined. My smile is back, I stand straighter, and my energy for life is back! I wouldn't change this for the world. I start back at the gym next week hopefully that will just boost me farther!

So excited for the future!
Happy Holidays everyone!

3 weeks OUt

Nov 29, 2011

I am so happy I went through with this surgery. I has my surgery on 11-7-11 and have now lost 25lbs. Things are already starting to fit differently and my energy is slowly increasing. This weekend I did have a bit of a scare with my eyesight. I have developed what they think to be Ocular Migraines from the big changes my body is experiencing. But hopefully they will go away with time. Other then that I am losing weight right on track according to my surgeon. he said by Christmas I will most likely be down another 20-25 lbs!!! That will put my just a pound or two from being under 200!!

The hardest part I think was the liquid diet for 2 weeks that was SOOO hard for me. I just wanted to eat and my protein shakes made my stomach feel yucky. I think it was a good test though. I reassurance that I can beat my food issues if I put my mind to it.

Good Luck to everyone about to have surgery!!! Its worth it and you will be so happy once your back on your feet!

3rd Generation

Nov 07, 2011

Well in a hour and a half I leave for the hospital... Its here and I am overwhelmed with excitment nerves and a little fear of the unknown, I know it will be fine though after all I am now going to the 3rd generation to have this surgery (dad RNY 2009, Grandma Bypass 1982). And after talking to my grandma who had it done in 1982 the surgery has come a long way. It doesn't completely remove the nerves but it definitely helps to ease them.  Well here I go!!

6 days!

Nov 01, 2011

So I am currently fighting to get over a little bit of a cold and FOOD POISONING! Ugh... I feel miserable but my close family and friends are telling me its like a test run for surgery lol. Nothing sounds good to eat and I have no appetite. On a different note I can't believe I am 6 days away! i have my Pre assessment testing and pre-op appointment with the surgeon on Thursday and then Monday is the day!! I am so nervously excited! I am so happy thought o of found this site and beable to see everyone elses experiences. I think I would be a nervous wreck without it. Well I am sure I will be on at least once more before surgery... I need to figure out "before" pictures...

Its official!

Oct 24, 2011

So I got the final approval from my insurance! And after just a minor hiccup of being approved for the wrong surgery that is now all straightened out now, everything is on track for surgery 11-7-11. I am so excited! Although I agree with my dad (2 years post-op) now that I got the approval I have so many butterflies of "what did I get my self into". I just keep reminding myself that while this is a big step, it is what I want and that I have done hours of research, talking to people and everything will be ok. I think I am mostly on edge because I have never had any type of surgery before... I am so blessed to have such a supportive boyfriend, and all around supportive "village" around me through this. There incouragement has definitely helped my worry-wartness :)
I can not wait for all the energy I will have. I have lots of projects that I want to do and that have been just waiting for me to start. I have been feeling so sluggish for so long I have just kept putting them on the back burner. I want to get back to school, I have some home repairs... lots of things to distract me from any thoughts of cheating on my post-op diet.  I also have not bought any clothing for a long time now knowing the surgery was coming. My mom and I went shopping this weekend and I am so excited that very soon I will be able to buy clothes in normal stores and have more choices of styles. Well I am starting my count down until surgery: 14 Days!!
