Well ladies and gentlemen, my name is Emily.

To be honest, I've been a fat kid my entire life. I've never known anything dealing with the words "skinny" or "little."

I grew up in the time where fast food took over America, and where busy schedules led to an addiction to convenience foods. Not only are they quick and easy, but hey.. we can all agree they're delicious.

I come from a "large" family.. and I mean girth, not members. My mother and father have always struggled with weight, along with my half-sister.

Since beginning my career working at Lane Bryant, I have become very accepting of my weight. Working with other plus size women gave me the confidence I lacked in my younger years. I have become a very confident fat kid, as i like to call myself, and have learned to make the best of what I have at this moment, and believe me.. I am pretty fabulous.

Honestly, I never saw myself having weight loss surgery until I started working full time. Weighing 350 pounds and working on your feet 30+ hours a week really took a toll on my body, even though I am only 22 years old. I began to realize that there's so much more to life, that you shouldn't hurt or ache this bad when you are so young, so with the influence of a Good friend I began my process of weight loss surgery. I was initially approved in May, and I have been going through the insurance process since then.

I have had several friends have this surgery and be very successful with it, and even though I always told myself I'd never do it.... I think I'm finally ready to make the change.

My goals in weight loss surgery are simple. I want to live a more active life. I want to get off this golf-ball looking butt of mine and for the first time in my life I want to be able to go for a run. I want my career to advance. However much I just adore (sarcasm) working retail for years, I will never have the career I dream of (Police Officer) until I am able to lose the weight and get back into shape.
