Well hello everyone!!! My name is Daniel and I'm from the great state of Texas!!! I have been overweight my entire life!! It has haunted me for many years, so it's FINALLY time for a change!! I have been wanting bariatric surgery for 6 years now. When I begin my journey I was always shot down. I kinda gave up till April of this year. I went to a seminar at Christus SETX Bariatric Center in Beaumont Texas.. I was going to learn more on lap-band, but then was introduced to the new "gastric sleeve" AKA VGS.. The nurse at the seminar recommended this, because it will get me closer to my goal weight.. So after the seminar my health insurance info was given to the staff and I left for the day. Sometime the next afternoon I got a phone call and was advised I was denied by my insurance, they do not cover it under ANY circumstances! Soo what a depressing let down. I then learned the surgery was cash priced @ $16,000. Now, where in the hell do I get that much money?? I was then told about financing options and tried those. I have recently bought a home and a new truck, and I have a high debt ratio, sooo they wouldn't finance me.. Now I am really depressed and wondering how am I going to get this??? So I just moped for a few days and then I got a phone call from my father.. He told me, look Daniel you have to have this, and I want to help you. I'm going to get a loan against my 401K plan, so you go do this.. WOW, what a miracle.... Now I will pay him every month, and pay him back in full, but INTEREST FREE, what a save!! As soon as I got the money in my savings account I called the center, which was about 2 weeks ago.. They then scheduled me for an appt with the nurse and dietitian, and the next day an appt. with the Mental Health pro, which I AM NORMAL.. HAHAHAH!! This was this week, all went well.. Now waiting on my reading of the chest x-rays, EKG, and Blood Labs. After that is done, I'm supposed to get the appt with the surgeon, and then surgery date will be discussed, AKA my new birthday!!!
Like I was saying I am from the great state of Texas, born and raised. I am 27 years old, single, hard-working, and independent. Having the surgery is going to complete me 100% of the person I want to be!! I have 2 great full-time jobs.. I have been a Fire Dept 911 Dispatcher since 2001, and been in the EMS field since 2002, where currently I am an EMT and Dispatch Supervisor/Director. Losing all the weight, will sure make it easier to jump in and out that ambulance, let me tell you!!! I am currently 5 foot 10 inches, and 527 LBS, yes people 527, %^&*()_*&^%$!!! How did that happen.. Well with my surgery and 150% dedication to eating right and hard core at the gym, I WILL make my goal of 245 LBS!!! I want everyone to wish me luck and pray for me!!
