First RNY post-op visit

Sep 27, 2011

Friday, Sept. 23

Dr. Steinberg's scale shows I've lost 10 lbs. since my last drs. visit with them.  My scales say 19 lbs. at this point, but my weight and % will be off of his numbers.

He said I'm doing great, all is well, incisions are all healing up and the glue has come off.

A couple questions I asked him:

- I have a funny feeling when I drink sometimes.  He said that feeling will go away.

- I didn't know why I couldn't feel any pain from the re-routing inside and he said that's because intestines don't have any pain when you cut them, but if they stretch for gas it hurts.

- He said I could chew sugar-free gum and  suck on sf mints.  Great news for me!!!!  He said those sugar alcohols would not cause dumping.  He's not concerned about swallowing gum unless it was a huge wad full.

- He said I could do anything I wanted - no restrictions.

- Dietician answered all my vitamin questions, etc.

- He gave me a release to go back to work Oct. 3rd with 2-3 weeks of half days (my choice).

- I don't go back until Dec. 9th - 3 months.  I have to have my blood work done two weeks ahead of time to make sure my blood work looks o.k.
