Just Married!

Jul 23, 2014

Highest Weight: 312, Pre-Op: 309, Lowest Weight: 132 (I had a stomach bug)

Current Weight: 139 Goal Weight: Maintain under 140.

Well everyone, I am excited to say I was just married on the 12th! That's my big news...and I definitely married MR RIGHT!

I find my weight fluctuating dramatically. In the past 4 months my highest weight has been 149 and my lowest weight has been 132. I was just eating much too often, so I had to back it up...but what's interesting is how incredibly quickly I can lose weight and the flip side, how quickly I can gain it.

I can gain or lose 6 pounds EASY in a week. It's kind of crazy, and I'm not doing any super binge eating or starving myself or anything major for that to happen...it's just the way my body is now. A slight change in eating makes an immediate difference in my weight.

It's amazing, but scary at the same time...which is how I wound up at 149...no big eating difference, but just eating more...not a LOT more, just more...and so it was a shock and a quick back on track plan.

I've got quite a bit of excess skin and would love to do something about it and am sure that I will be eventually...those surgery's aren't necessary and are very expensive, so getting the cosmetic end of things taken care of takes time. :-)

I also need to get on a regular exercise regimen. Just to help with overall health and energy. I piddle around with my 3 and 4 year old all day, but want to start something more hardcore. And, if I start building muscle, obviously my weight will rise, but as long as my pants aren't getting tight, I'm giving it all to the muscle category!

Ok, everyone, hugs, love and skinny thoughts!

My 18 Month Post-Op Post!

Mar 10, 2014

So, I am 18 months post-op now and wish I had a chance to leave a more detailed post, but unfortunately I am crunched for time!

I have been more or less maintaining for the past 4 months now. My weight crept up to a high of 141 after the holidays, which I was furious about, but I weighed this morning at 136. I strive to keep my weight under 139. I've been told, once you hit the 5 pounds gained mark, it's time to back it up! So, since 134 was my lowest weight, 139 is my "time to back it up number." I typically stay between 136-137..."Skinny" day I'm 135, "fat" day I'm 138. :P

I went in to a plastic surgeon last week about getting some (ok, a LOT) of skin removed and it's currently being reviewed by insurance. They said that they've never had insurance actually pay (or help pay) for the skin removal on the legs or arms...which was a bummer, but that they would try...PRAY FOR ME! And, that insurance will most like cover a portion of the full body lift (a cut all the way around my stomach and back around the panty line to remove skin from the stomach/back area) I just hope they come back with some good news, and that insurance will cover most or all of the operation, because I can't afford much.

Well, I hope everyone who reads this is doing good and walking their journey STRONG!

Love, Hugs and Skinny Thoughts,

Beth

Happy New Year!

Jan 06, 2014

Haven't had a chance to get on here since the New Year, but wanted to update everyone.

Today I am 1 year and 4 months post-op. I weigh 141 pounds. That seems fabulous and believe me, it has been, but I actually have gained 7 pounds in the past 2 months. My mother, who had the same surgery 6 or so years ago has always told me, "You won't stay at your lowest weight. Your body will readjust itself where it is healthiest." Now, that's a good thing for me to remember, but that is not what my body is doing. The reason why I've gained 7 pounds is my exercise has been non-existent since this freezing weather has kicked in. I am a 65*- 95* kind of girl. Also, I've been consuming too many carbs and too much sugar and not enough protein. So, I have started my 21 day journey to set up better eating habits and break the bad old ones...

So from January 6th through the 26th, I will not consume anything white! Including: sugar and anything bleached or fried ie: white corn and flour tortillas, bleached breads, white rice, potatoes, chips, sweets, etc.

I'm also going to have a hard time with this, but I am going to strive for the proper amount of water every day. For me, it's at least 4, 1 litre bottles of water. The proper measuring for this is your weight divided by two equals number of ounces of water you should consume. If you weigh 200 pounds, that would be 100 ounces of water a day, or 6, 1 litre bottles of water.

Week 2 I will make more major cutbacks and again in week 3.

These things happen and it's just about catching the error and taking a proactive approach to fix the problem...especially before it becomes bigger!

Hugs, Love and Skinny Thoughts,

Almost 1 year out (8 more days) Reason for MIA...

Aug 29, 2013

I'll be one year out next Friday. I have surpassed my 1 year goal of 160 and now weigh 142. I have lost 167 pounds in the past year!

Ok, I am so very sorry for being MIA for a while now. I haven't responded to messages or kept up with any of your amazing progress. I have wifi at my house, but my laptop broke, so everything I do has to be on my phone, which, I just have an inexpensive, small touch screen, so it doesn't let me post and it's difficult navigating on this page. If anyone would like to add me on my facebook, my phone is very faceboook compatible. My page is www.facebook.com/espiset All of my progress photos are on there!

My new long term goal now is to maintain between 140-145. I am so scared of stretching out my stomach!! I am able to eat more now, but it is still about 1 small taco or about 1/2-3/4 cup of food.

I graze throughout the day and that is working pretty well for me. My daily (ok, I'll admit twice a day) treat is a small Dr Pepper slushy from RaceTrac. I only like RaceTrac slushys...they are amazing. Other than that I stay away from sweets and limit my carbs. High protein plan!

My reason for having this surgery was to be able to keep up with my two toddlers! I feel like the energizer bunny now! We have a blast together and my house is clean and meals are cooked and I am just amazed at how I am able to get everything done now over the course of a couple of hours, when before I couldn't have dreamed of doing it in a day. I am taking on new activities and am a much better mother because of this surgery. I would tell anyone to go for it! I don't regret it for a minute!

Add me on facebook!

Hugs, love and lots of skinny thoughts,

Beth

9 months post-sleeve op...

Jun 07, 2013

So, I was 9 months out yesterday and I stepped on the scale and saw 159! I beat my ultimate goal by a pound! That was seriously exciting!

I have made a new goal of 150, it will put me further into a healthy BMI, mine is currently at 24, so towards the top of the healthy spectrum.

I am LOVING life and would recommend this surgery to anyone that has been in a loooong struggle with their weight. If I can do it, you can too! Believe me!

HW: 309, lost 150 pounds in 9 months!

Happy dance time...

Hugs, Love and lots of skinny thoughts!!

Finally figured out how to ZAP out a stall! (for me anyways)

Mar 22, 2013

So, all of these stalls I was facing were awful! I finally figured out what was going on after talking to my mom, who also had the VSG sleeve op.

I wasn't eating enough.

Yes, our new tummies are small and we can only fit a small amount in them, so that's not what I'm talking about.

I wasn't eating enough times throughout the day.

Now when I wake up my goal is to eat something small. (I'm not a morning eater, so that's why I say, something small.) It jump starts my metabolism. I usually go for some nuts or a slice of cheese. And, now I make it a point to eat throughout the day. Before I was only eating in the afternoon once and the evening once...and I was quite content with that...I didn't have an appetite before the afternoon...

Now, appetite or not, I "graze" throughout the day. Eating a piece of cheese, or 1/2 an ounce of nuts, or a piece of bacon, or an ounce of fish, etc...I try to eat at least 5 times a day.

And, I try to not drink anything for at least 10 minutes before eating, that way I can eat more....otherwise I might only be able to eat half of a snack.

So, in the past 2 weeks, I've lost 6 pounds. My BMI is 28.9 and my weight is 190. :-)

Safe to say that snacking all through the day is working wonders to keep the stalls at bay...at least for now!

Beth

6 Months Post-Op

Mar 06, 2013

What a journey this last 6 months have been! Just knowing 6 months ago today I was laying in a hospital bed after just having the vertical sleeve surgery. Oh the first few weeks were difficult, let me tell you! But, my weight was pouring off and that kept my chin up!

My doctor and I set a goal for a 100 pound weight loss by my 6 month post-op mark. I surpassed that goal and lost 113 pounds!

36 pounds to go and 6 months to get there to meet my ultimate goal weight of 160 by my 1 year anniversary.

Keeping this short and sweet...Would I do it again? In a heartbeat!

Hugs, Love n Skinny Thoughts,

Beth

Another Stall...

Feb 24, 2013

So, I've been stuck at 202 for 11 days now...the scale and I are no longer on speaking terms...it is what it is...

I am down 107 pounds altogether.  I will be 6 months post-op next Wednesday. Thinking in those terms makes me feel much better. My goal was to be in ONEderland by my 6 month post-op mark, so I've got 3 pounds to go to hit that in 10 days...we shall see.

And then my 2nd goal is to hit my ultimate goal of 160 by my 1 year mark. I have 42 pounds to go to hit my ultimate goal and over 6 months to get there.

All in all I'm confident in myself to hit both goals on schedule...these stalls are just SO DEPRESSING! surprise

But, God is good and I am getting there.

Hugs, Love and Skinny thoughts,

Bethenlightened
