In January 2007, I spoke with my PCP at Kaiser regarding surgery. Besides being in the morbidly obese group, I have the other difficulties - hbp, diabetes and arthritis.
In March 2007, I met with the nutritionist and was told that I should qualify for RNY surgery. However, I must attend six different classes where my food intake will be monitored and additional instructions provided. I call this six month phase of jumping through the hoops”.
In September 2007, I should know if I will be referred for surgery.Unfortunately, I chickened out July 2007. Just was ready for it.
HOWEVER, in March 2010 I knew I was ready for it. I've started the classes again and should know in October 2010 if I will be approved.
Surgery is scheduled for May 24, 2011. I'm excited, scared, etc.
