8 Months...Where did time go???

Nov 12, 2012

So today marks 8 months since i had my Vertical Sleeve ,I'm still in awe of how fast time has gone by.I can't believe that I'm down over 100pds.I'm so thankful to god for blessing me with the chance to be a healthier me.I'm also thankful for Dr Herron and his team for giving me a chance not to live the rest of my 20s heavy. When i  started this journey last august i weighted in at 474,as of Monday morning I'm down to 346.6.I was hoping to be in the 330 by my birthday  which is on Saturday however i don't know if that's going to happen. The last couple of weeks I've been feeling blah about my progress because i feel like i should be further out then  i am.I've noticed that i have a pattern I'm sure that most people noticed that they have a pattern.I'll lose really big every day for about a week plus and then the following week i have a big gain and that's what happen last week i was losing really well and boom i had a gain of over 4 pounds.Sometimes i wonder if i should have had rny then i would have been at my goal faster.I know that i'm not the only one that have had these emotions,I know that there are people who had surgery before me who can relate to me and where i am right now mentally.I see people who have had surgery after me and they have lost over 120 pds already, I keep telling myself that i can't compare myself to others journey that i have to keep doing what I'm doing that got me to lose over 100 pds and that i will lose the rest of my weight and i that i will get to goal.I still have about 116 pounds that i have to lose before i get any where close to my goals and i pray and ask god to continue to give me the strength that i need to finish this  journey in a positive light and get to where i want to be.My ultimate goal is be a size 16/18 so I'm working towards that goal,Right now i'm currently wearing a 24 on the bottom and about a 2x on top so I've come a long way already and i still have a long way to go and i know that i can do it.

Compared to last year i've gotten so much freaking smaller and i can see the differences and i'm thankful for that,I've also start to noticed that my arm skin is starting to hang a little more.My breast has gotten sooooo much smaller its not even funny,My thighs are holding pretty good still. The one thing that i'm trying to get rid of...My hips don't seem to be going any where no matter how hard i try.So now i have this tiny waist and these very noticeable hips,When i was bigger you really didn't noticed my hips that much because i was round all around but now that I've gotten smaller my curves are a lot more define.Like i've said since the start of my journey i never want to be skinny.I just want to be a smaller version of my self,I know that i have no control on how and when my body decide to stop losing.I keep trying to picture myself being like a size 8/10 and that crazy to me to even think that i can get that small but i know with the sleeve anything is possible.Over all i'm just grateful for all the progress that i've made and that i'll continue to make.I know that i will ultimately get to my goal even if it takes me longer i know that i will get there.

I just want to say a quick thank you to everyone that read my blog and to everyone that have extend support to me ,It truly means the world to me to have people who understand everything that i'm dealing who have either been there before and can give me veteran advice cause i'm still a newbie.

7 Months Today....

Oct 12, 2012

Good Morning, Good Morning......
How is everyone doing? So its been about a month since my last blog.Last month was a very hard month for me because i was fighting so hard to hit my 100pds loss and every time that i got close the scale would go right back taking me away from being close to my goal.I know that I'm going to get to my goals but being so close and having the scale mess with me can really trip you out.Like I've said before I've started weighing myself daily but have cut down to only two days away a week (Monday & Thursday) However i only logged my weight once a week here and log twice a week on MFP.So since i last weighted on Thursday it has shown that I've officially lost a 100pds ,I was beyond excited and i did it before my 7Th month anniversary,I couldn't be any happier.Although that I'm happy with my progress I've bee wondering if maybe i choose the right surgery,I guess you could say that I've been looking at people who had RNY and comparing my journey to there which i know is the worst thing that i could possibly do.I guess that part of me just wants the weight to come off faster. Then i have to give myself a dose of reality,When have i ever been able to lose that much weight.I remember when i was doing weight watchers it took about six months to lose 25 pds.So I've triple that amount in the same time,Like most people on this journey i think that I've hit my hump where I'm doubting the process but i know that i just have to keep putting in the work and i will see the results.Everyone around me keeps telling that they see the changes in my body and i can too.I mean i went from wearing a 32/34 in pants to wearing a 28 that has gotten too big and i just bought some 24s and they are a little bit snug but they pull up all the way and i can fit into them.I also went from wearing a 4x top to now being able to fit into a 2x..So I'm making huge progress i just have to try harder not to focus so much on the numbers on the scale.I told myself when i started this process that i didn't care about the number on the scale as long as i could fit into an 18.

I've said it from the start of my journey,That i never wanted to be SKINNY,That i only wanted to be a smaller version of myself and by the looks of things I'm going to get there its just going to take me time and that's what i have to keep repeating to myself...."this is going to take time" and i think that I'm finally starting to understand those words and see that this is NOT a race. That i can compare my journey to anyone else. That i need to put on blinders and just focus on me and everything that i need to do to get to the next stage of my journey.I have my next appointment with my surgeon, nutritionist and pcp next month and before i go to them i want to be in the 330s.I know that's seems like a big goal but i want to push myself to make it ,Even if i don't make it.I just want to get close to it.I know that i can and will do it.

6 months & A day

Sep 13, 2012

Hi everyone it seems like its been forever since i wrote a blog,Yesterday was my 6 month surgiversary and I'm doing pretty damn well.I'm totally loving my sleeve and everything that it has done for me.I'm down to 357.2,So that's 98.1 pds since surgery and about 116pds since my highest weight. The changes in my body have been crazy,I can see my collarbone even more now.I can walk further without my lower back hurting,I'm not breathing heavy anymore.I went from a size 32 the biggest that i would by even though I'm sure that i was at least a 34.To now wearing 26/28,I've always been bottom heavy and although I'm losing weight it seems that my top is getting smaller faster then my bottom.I know that regardless of how much weight i lose i will always have big thighs and a big butt.Like I've said many time before i don't want to be skinny i just want my curves to be smaller and its happening and i couldn't be anymore happier.Right now I've set my goal to be at 250.I don't know if I'm going to change that but for right now,That's where my mind is set at.As long as i can fit into a 16-18 I'll be happy. So if 250 gets me into those sizes i will be in heaven but until i get to that point I'm going to take it one day at a time.I can't believe how close i am to losing almost a 100pds i would  have never thought that this would have been possible but because of my sleeve i am to do that and then some.I'm going to post some pictures soon,I know that i've been saying that for a while and just haven't gotten around to it.I usually spend most of my time on Myfitnesspal(everchanging84),So if you are on there feel free to at me.

Five Months Post...

Aug 12, 2012

Well here it is my fifth month post op anniversary,I'm thrilled with the progress that I'm making.I'm down 84.3 pounds since surgery.I know that without this surgery i couldn't have loss that much weight,I've been doing my zumba and other exercise and the weight was coming off and everything seems to be going in the right direction.I was thinking that i was going t hit the 100pds loss mark by my six month but now i don't know if that will happen. It all started last week and i noticed that my appetite increased so much more.I started eating like crazy,However everything that i ate i track it on MFP.One day last week i went over my calorie amount by 350,That's not good. Not only that i happen to peak at the scale on Saturday and it showed a gain of over 3pds.I was more disappointed then anything in myself.I'm still in the losing phase I'm not suppose to be gaining weight.Has this ever happened to anyone???,I know that my eating wasn't the best but it was truly one day where i pigged out.The rest of the week i as under my 800 cal for the day,I'm starting to think that the fact that I've not had a good poop is a factor as well.I'm going to call my surgeons office tomorrow and ask them if i can take some form of laxative because i need to go out.It would be crazy to think that I'm holding that much poop in my bowels.I was beating myself up over the gain and i posted about it on MFP and my friends told me not to dwell on it,Which is easier said then done.Today is the start of a new week and I'm going to kick everything back into gear and continue to do everything that I'm suppose too and I'm going to cut out the snacks and the all the sugar free drinks that I've been drinking and just go back to my water and protein shakes.Aside from that everything is still going awesome i know that i'm still losing inches like crazy,Matter of fact i have to take my inches for this month by the end of the week.My clothes are falling off,my collarbone is poking even more this month then last month and now everyone around me is starting to noticed that i'm losing weight.Especially the people who dont know that i had surgery,I know that last week was a minor setback and i know exactly what needs to be done to correct it and thats what i'm going to do.
I'm moving foward from there and i'm not going to let that little delay stop all the awesome work that i'm doing.I also realized that i've stop weighing myself daily and when i did that it keep me more accountable. So i think that this week i'm going to go back to weighing myself once a day and logging it on MFP and only looking my once a week weight on here.

Follow up results.

Jul 23, 2012

Hey guys,it always seems like im writing you guys from work.Well when im on my break thats the only time that i have to really get a minute to myself. Well i finally got the call today from Mimi(nutrionist) about the results of my blood from last week when i went to my post op appointment. So everything look good she said and then she dropped the however on me,My iron and vitamin d levels came back low.So i was just taking over the counter iron now she really wants me to get a bottle of the biofec(sp) and double up on the dose at least for a month. With the vitamin d she wants to be out in the sun for about 15 minutes a day.I dont know if that is going to work because i hate the heat unless im sitting by the pool or the beach.I would rather just take the pills,I was so happy that mostly everything came back normal because i was truly worried about my blood results. Now that i know what is going on i can now start doing what i ahve too so that when i go back in november to see the team my levels will be better.Other then that everything is going perfect and i have no complaint i'm totally loving my sleeve and she is loving me back.I went shopping yesterday and i was able to by a pair of shorts in 26 and one in 28.Thats down probably from a 34,The biggest i ever bought was 32 because i refuse to buy anything bigger then that.I mean i'm down 76 pounds in four it truly gets no better then that.I look foward to losing another 76 pounds in another four months.

My next mini goal is to get to 375,followed by 350 and then 299.I know that i can do it i just have to keep focus on my plan and everything will continue to work out.I have some pictures that i want to upload and i will i think that im going to do that for my 6 month surgervisary.Anyway i hope that everyone is doing well and i think about you guys especially my sleeve sisters.Even though it seems like most of you dont get online anymore i hope that you guys are well.

76.3 pounds gone forever

Jul 16, 2012

This morning was filled with nothing but appointments and blood work but I'm happy that i finally got everything done. Now i just hope that all my blood work comes back ok I'm especially worry about my iron levels because i don't want to start getting infusions but before i jump the gun I'm going to wait until the nutritionist call me with my results which she said should take a few days.I schedule everyone for today(PCP,Nutritionist and Surgeon) .So first up was my PCP and he was thrilled with my progress,He hasn't seen me since right after i had surgery.I was his first patient that he had to go through the whole 6 month supervise diet with.He couldn't stop beaming about my results he said that he was so proud of me.I told him i wasn't sure if i needed to see him especially now ,He said yes because he is the one that makes the decision about my meds and things like that.My blood pressure today was 123/86 and i was telling  him that i stop taking my pills a month after surgery because they made me dizzy. So today officially marks the day that i got off bp meds and its documented. He wants to see me again in 3 months just to make sure that my blood pressure is staying low.
Then i went to my surgeons office got on the scale and  i weight 379.0 so that mean since last week i lost 9.2pds and since surgery I've lost 76.3pds.Dr Herron was very happy with my progress.I was a little bit nervous cause i didn't want to disappoint him.So i asked him as far as number how do i stand he told me that I'm actually ahead of the game and he is beyond happy with the progress that I'm making. He also said that he was thrilled with the way my scars look they are almost gone except the two big one,He said you you can't even tell i had surgery because my scars are not visible,I told him that's because he is the best at what he does. He told me that he wants to see me again for my 8 month visit....I totally my sleeve its one the best decisions i ever made. After i was done with Dr herron i saw the nutritionist and we talked for a while about everything and she was also happy with how I'm doing. She told me to try to up my protein cause i was honest about that and she said to keep trying the further out the easier it will become to get more protein in .I told her that the amount that i eat is not enough and in order for me to meet my protein requirement would mean that i would have to be drinking protein shakes all day.So from this point I'm going to try and drink at least two protein shakes for the days,Especially on days that its too hot to eat. Some days i'm not going to lie i spend most of drinking water and sometimes i'll forget to eat because food is the last thing on my mind now.I'm going to try and go shopping this weekend to see what size i'm down too...Oh i forgot to mention that i took my measurements last week and since last month i've lost 17 1/2 inches off my body.I'm sure that total would have been more but i only started measuring last month.I'm going to try and upload some pics but most of the pics is on my phone and for some reasons with my android i'm having issues with OH.Thank you for reading,I hope that everyone is doing well.

4 months post op

Jul 14, 2012

Hi everyone,I cant believe that its been four months since i had surgery. It truly does seem like it was yesterday. When people say that the first couple of months goes by fast they wasnt playing it truly does.I'm trying to see where to update you guys.I guess that i'll start with the number since i know thats where you guys what to know.Since the day of my surgery i've loss a total of 70pds and 17 1/2 inches of my body.I'm sure that its more inches but i only started measuring in june.Food wise i'm doing really good,It took three months but im finally over that head hunger,Honestly that was the worst part.I'm working out three days a week with zumba.I have my three month follow up appointment on monday and i'm nervous because i know that this surgery was about me and getting myself healthier but i dont want to disappoint Dr Herron. So i'm hope that he is happy with the progress that i've made since he last saw me.I've lost an additional 47pds since he last saw me.I was hoping to get to 374 before that appointment but i dont think thats going to happen and thats ok i've made great progress and thats what i have to keep telling myself.I guess the next time that i will update will be on monday after my appointment wish me luck.

14 weeks post op

Jun 19, 2012

Hey everyone,
Well i wanted to share with my VSG family.Yesterday i hit my first mini goal...I weight in at 399.4.Sometimes i can admit that it feels like I'm losing slowly and then i realize that i lost 55Pd's in three months. If can lose another 55 pds in the next three months that's going to put me at 110pds gone.I'm so happy that i decided to go ahead and have my sleeve.I'm finally over my head hunger.I can finally drink water without any issues and I've learned to chew chew chew because i got tired of throwing up because i was eating too fast.My clothes are starting to fit baggy and I've noticed that my collarbone is peaking out.Everyone around me is noticing that I'm losing weight although i can see it myself i know its happening.Next months i have my three month follow up and I'm hoping to be down to 380 before my appointment,If i don't make it then fine but i have my focus on working towards my goal.My next mini goal that I'm working on is to get to 375 because i weighted that when i was 15 years old. When i got on the scale and saw 399,I though that i would have cried but i didn't i just laughed because i was so happy i cant believe that i finally made it.Its only downward from this point on and i know that i can do it,I just have to keep pushing myself. If it wasnt for me having this surgery i know for a fact that i would have been in the 3s because many times i fought hard to lose weight and the most that i would lose would be like 25 in the same three months,So i guess that i'm ahead of the game.I know that i can do it,I'm taking the reminder of the year to continue to focus on me and getting my weight under control and next year i'm going back to school to finish off my degree.I'm thinking that i might want to do nursing or some form of counseling.I've always known that my future was going to be bright and i try not to let my weight stop me from doing most things but there were times where i did.I know that me losing weight is not going to fix everything in my life however i know that its going to make it easier to move around and get things done....Congrats to everyone who is getting ready to have surgery or who had surgery already just keep focus on yotu goal you will get there...Looking forward to another 14 weeks i wonder where i'll be then.

12 weeks Post Op

Jun 06, 2012

Hi everyone,It's been a minute since i wrote my last blog. That was mainly because i didn't know what to write about....There is so much going on and i didn't know what to write about .That's funny to me.Usually when i get on OH its with my phone and my phone doesn't let me post comments on the forum or write in my blog but i can comment on other people's blog.So let me see if i can keep this brief without my usual rambling at least anymore then i already did....lol
So all last week i was weighing daily and i was losing about about 3.3 pounds every two to three day i was on cloud nine. This week it seems to be a little slower and that's ok cause i think that my period is coming pretty soon. My current weigh is 406.9 I'm still in awe that I'm so close to 399.That's  my first mini goal and my next one is 375 because that's what i remember weighing when i was 15 years old.I have my 3 month appointment sometime in July i didn't make it yet but before i go i would love to be 385.I know that's a bit ambitious because that's 21 pounds in the next month and a half.I'm just reaching for the stars if i don't make it all the way that's fine too because i know that I'm going to fall some where in the middle.Everyone keeps telling me that they can see the difference in my face and my body and even though i have lost 48 pounds I'm still trying to see the difference.I know that I'm losing because when i put on my pants they are not getting too big in the waist area.I had to put another hole in my belt because it was getting too big.I really see the difference when i take pic or i do a comparison pic and its like damn i really lost weight.
The other day i was thinking to myself that I'm losing slow i know that if i had rny i would have lost more weight by now. Then i slap myself back into reality I'm losing at the perfect weight and i just have to keep doing what I'm doing and i will see the results.I've also started doing zumba 4x a week,I have it for the wii and let me tell you after about three song I'm sweating it really is a good work out.Right now I'm still wearing the same clothes that i was wearing before surgery which a 30/32 on the bottom and about 28/30 on top.Even though they are starting to get big on me i still haven't tried on any smaller sizes just yet.Maybe by July or august I'll be down in size.Over all I'm happy with the progress that I'm making and I'm thankful for my tool,I know that this will only continue to get better from here and i thank god everyday.

8 Weeks Post Op

May 10, 2012

Hey Guys,
How is everyone doing?I'm doing good coming to you guys from Arizona came down here last night with my mom and aunt so that we could spend mother's day with my grandmother.I'm leaving next Wednesday,Which seems like such a short time because i usually spend about two weeks whenever i come out here.Last time when i came out here in Jan and i went back home and weighted myself i had gained 18 pounds,Yes you read that right. There was a lot of sonics, cake and lots of alcohol and everything else under the sun plus my uncle is a really good cook and he did a bbq while i was here needless to say i had my fill of everything. This trip is going to be so different because i cant over indulge like that,So last night on our way home from the airport i stop and got some already made protein shakes so that i can have them here.So this morning i got up and worked on the elliptical granted it was only fro ten minutes the point is i did it and according to myfitnesspal that burned 289 cal so i thats pretty damn good.I also had my protein shake and then for lunch i had a turkey burger(16 grams of protein) with ketchup, tomato wrapped in a piece of lettuce.I had half an felt satisfied and gave the rest to my mother.I also still have some trail mix that i bought yesterday that I'm going to eat for my snack.Over all I'm doing pretty good food wise but its still an adjustment and I'm learning slow what will work for me and what wont.Last week when i weighted in i gained .5 ounces and i was so upset because i thought that this was the losing phase. The only thing that i different was that i added some nuts and i worked out four days last week.So this week i cut down on the nuts and still working out mostly walking and my DVDs that i was using before surgery,Currently I'm 425 sometimes i feel like I'm losing slow compared to other who had surgery the same time as me or after me.I know that your not suppose to do that because everyone journey is different.I guess that all i can do is continue to follow "MY PROGRAM" and i will continue to see the results that I'm looking for.I guess what everyone on the board is saying about the scale is true. The times when the scale is moving slow is when you look at your inches and i can you tell you that my inches are coming off.My stomach has gotten smaller and so has my hips and my face.So i know the changes are happening it just looks like the scale number is going to take a little longer then usual.I'm just thankful for the gift of being sleeve and i know that i just have to continue to watch everything I'm eating and get my protein in and work out and i will be OK.I know that my body has been so FAT for such a long time that its going to fight me to get go of the weight i just have to fight harder.Well that it for now I'm going to enjoy my time wit the fam.
