Home at last

Jul 17, 2009

I just got back from the best litle vacation ever!   4 days in seattle, being a tourist, so much fun.  I walked so much and am in so much pain... I can't wait to re-trace my steps next year......

As an update for me. I got my blood drawn about 6 weeks ago for OHSU. I thought this wouldbe my final blood draw, and they would call me right away and scedule surgery. Well, that was 6 weeks ago, and I have yet to hear from anyone. My phone calls ended with udeness and "they'll call you within a few weeks.... whatever... blah blah blah... I;m a bitch..."

So, I was furiouse, I wanted surgery this summer (hell, I wated surgery last summer) and they were ruining my plans. So I changed surgeons. I decided that the DS is a better option for me. I actually decided this to begin with but was told by my OLD surgeons office that it was some horrible thing that they only did for revision.. blah.. blah...     so, now it is an option for me, and I found a surgeon in federal way that is amasing. I have a hole shit load of tests to do, but I'm looking at around the first week in september to get the surgery.

I go back to federal way for my tests august 3-6th....   yay...  lets cross our fingers and hope everything turns out ok.

And the fun part, he put m on a diet. who dosn;t love to diet, right?   10 days, low carb, then 10 days clear liquid,  rinse and repeat.    I should lose 1lb. a day, he says.   need to drop about 50 before surgery. wish me luck.

I'm not dying....

Jan 12, 2009

I finally heard back from my PCP today about the anemia. She said I am low in iron and prescribed me to take Iron twice a day, which a glass of orange juice she said.   Then, they test me again in a month and see where I am. Does this bring me any closer to surgery?  I HAVE NO IDEA!  but, at least I now KNOW there has been things OTHER than fattness wrong with me all this time.  Something as simple as taking a vitamin has seemed to make my life a little bit easier to live.

last week, I hated walking. To walk down the hall in my campus, 4 hole classrooms distance, was escrutiatingly painfull. It felt like I had giant sandbags tied just above my knees and my hips didn't seem to work right. My knees would feel like they were going to buckle and it was like someone just smashed the tops of my feet with a crowbar. In a couple of feet I was out of breath and hoping to god noone saw the pain or fear in my eyes.

I haven't lost any weight, And I am nowhere near better. But today I walked around campus with my husband and I didn't even think about my legs. I didn't notice untill later, becouse I just truly forgot. I didn't struggle to move.

Vit. D, Iron, getting in protein, sleeping at night with my cpap.   I'm a mess but maybe its all a start to getting better. Maybe tomorow I will get out of bed without wishing for death, and stand through my hole chemistry lab like everyone else.   Maybe I'll step on a scale and realise the changes I have been trying tomake have made a diference.  Maybe I'll have hope again.

Another month gone by

Jan 10, 2009

and still, no date is set.

I got all my pre- blood work done and heard back from the nurse. pract. I have low vit. D and am anemic. YAY!   She put me on prescrip. vit D for the next 8 weeks, and i am waiting to hear back about the anemia. She wanted to confer with my PCP, and I missed mjy PCP's call on friday, so.... i wait till monday....

Good news is, school is bck in which means I spend less time WORRYING about WLS and dieting and changing my life, and more time just doing it.   I still have 20 lbs to lose, so I said goodbye to cookies, chips, snack food, and soda (even diet) and I am saying hello to fresh veggies, salad, and 0 calorie non carbonated beverages. although, thats not realy anythingt different than what I usually do, but, i;m just cutting the CRAP out.

I do want to say, frozen peas are my favorite snack food. they are better that dorritos! They start off all crunchy and cold, and turn smooshy as they thaw.. yum....    anyway

sorry if the typing inthis blog is worse then usual. I gfot one of those mini lap tops, weights 2 pounds. its great, but I have the hands of a linebacker, so.. i type like crap on this minny keybourd.

So now... I wait.....     Hope everyone else is having a better new year, maybe mine will be grand next year.   her's to hopping 2009 will beanything  but lame..

my first post

Dec 23, 2008

aren't you all proud?  So, this long journey is one step closer to stisfaction. I FINALLY met with the nurse practitioners on December 10th. Of course, i find out that my PCP office did not send any of my blood work over, and the sleep study people didn't send anything either. So, we are now awaiting my sleep study papers. I have to get blood work done, but this snow is making it hard. I went in for a mamogram yesterday. My first one, scary. But it wasn't so bad. So, bloodwork, then I get to meet with the surgeon. YAY!
