On January 31, 2007 is when I decided to have RNY. I broke down in tears in dissapointment in myself. I felt like I have tried every diet, diet pill, and excersie program a person could try. Nothing seemed to work. I called my PCP that day and she was able to get me in that afternoon. I then contacted a friend to get the surgeons name. Feb. 6th I attended my first support Group meeting at South Nassua Hospital. Feb 22nd I attended a seminar re RNY and Lap, it went over all the differences of the two and made it easier to decide what procedure I wanted.

I met with the Surgeon and his staff for the first time. If its cheating the ins. companys what your looking for, hes the guy. His office staff gives you a format 6 month journal you are to copy and even gives you the dates you are to plug into their little chart. Then I am to get my PCP to sign it. AT this time I was also giving all the scripts for all the pre-testing. This was also the wonderful day that I started the wonderful opti-fast shake & meal diet. I was put on the 2 shakes a day and 1 snack bar, and 1 meal. So I would have a shake for breakfast, snack bar for lunch, another shake at 2 or 3 and then have dinner with my family. I was also told to return to the surgeon, Dr. Vohra, in 4 weeks with my progress. Dr. Vohra's office weighed me in at 316.

Attended 2nd support group meeting. I also have lost 7 pounds. I am now 309.

I'm almost done with all my pre-surgery testings. I was so excited to make this decission, that I got all my pre-surgery tests done fast. I am now weighing in at 298. Down 11 pounds.

This was my second visit with Dr. Vohra, but I've been doing weekly weigh-in's with his staff. I got my date today....He gave me April 24th.

I got denied from my insurance company because an error on Dr. Vohra's staff. They forgot to send my 6 month journal over to the ins co when they faxed all the other info. At first they tried to say I never gave it to them, but then all of a sudden one of the office girls said oh wait, heres her journal. Of course they never said sorry for blaming me.

Received a call from Dr. Vohra's office to change my surgery date. They called me on my cell phone while I was shopping with my 2 kids. So when they said they were going to bump it 2 days I never thought to ask can I have it sooner. Later I found out that 2 other patients that were also sechduled on the 24th thought to ask to be sooner. So my new surgery date is April 26th, 2007. I know its only 2 days, but wow I was disappointed. I had my heart all set on the 24th.

I had to go to the hospital and do all the blood work the hospital requires. They also wanted to take a chest x-ray and gave me all my paper work. Also weighing in at 290. Down 26 pounds from my first appt.

2 days after surgery, still in hospital weighing at 287. I got to go home on Sunday the 29th. Boy were my 2 lil kiddies happy to see me.
