I have always been a little overweight. In middle and high school, it really was "a little" then after I gave birth to my first son, it was a lot. That began 15 years of really battling the bulge. I went to my doctors, did lots of diets, and even experienced some success on WW- 75 pounds in 3 years. Each diet had its success but each also ended the same way, with an immovable plateau. I started to look into WLS in '04 but one complication after another ended that attempt. I am forever thankful for the process because a lot happened in the midst of it. I found out I had severe sleep apnea- 95 apneas/hr, diabetes, and Hashimoto's Disease, aka hypothyroidism. In all those years of going to dr's, not one ran a TSH count on me. My levels are still not great but a lot better than they were. My health continued to deteriorate and quite honestly, I had stopped putting much effort at all into even maintaining my weight. Then I went on disability... and would have medicare. I began planning on starting this process again as soon as I was on medicare. I was officially enrolled 2/1/09 and attended the seminar in March.
***UPDATE***
ii developed a fistula and because of it, food is going into my stomach again. I am now on the road to surgery to correct that and redo the gastric bypass.
