I have always been a large person, from a family of large people and have been deathly afraid of needles for a long time. It is a big step for me to let blood drawn, much less have surgery, but I have done it before. I have had a total of 4 surgeries in all since 2004, but none have been for weight-loss. I know I NEED to have this surgery done to be able to see my Grandkids someday. I would have done this before, but wasn't able to due to fracturing my left ankle and right elbow in a fall at work on Feb 4, 2008. I needed to have surgery and had 10 screws and a plate put in. Needless to say, I had to take care of the rehab from that before I could consider having this started. (Mentally I couldn't handle doing both at the same time!)
When I went in for a pre-surgical eval back in March, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. My blood sugar was 535 from the blood work done at the surgical eval and by the time I got to the ER 1 hour after getting told I needed to go to the ER my blood sugar was 634! (I was on the way home 330 miles from where I was for my pre-surgical eval and was between cities that had good hospitals otherwise I would have been there faster.)
Anyhow, now that my hardware has been removed from my ankle, it IS time for the surgery! I HAVE to have it done! I WILL have it done and ASAP!
