Hey Folks,
I don't have a sob story to tell you but I have been over weight/ obese since I was a kid. And growing up in the south was sort of a double edge sword. For one, it is more acceptable to be over weight and sort of your right. So, I really never worried about weight and I have been over 350lbs since 2000. I had an awakening once I had my son in 2005 and really started to feel the effects of being over weight: HBP, pre-diabectic, severe knee pain, sleep apnea. WTH was all of this, I thought too myself. More so, my mom is 51 yrs old at 360lbs and it's no joke for her. She has all types of illnesses from a bad heart- Osteo Arthritis. Some of her ailments are not weight related but the extra weight does not help at all.
Since 2005 I have been on a quest to loose weight and succesfully lost 20lbs and gained back 36lbs. Yea me!!!!
I thought about WLS surgery in 06 and chickened out because one of my friends said " It is not you to get WLS".
I am kicking myself right now because now I am in a time crunch to get the surgery approved because my job is laying off. And I have to think about the after care with no insurance. I really wished I would have checked into this long time ago.
So, Now I am on my quest to be healthy! Wish me Luck!
