July 21 2009- i am down 80+ lbs now... i am feeling good.. and i am VERY happy that i did this surgery! I have updated new pics...
My story is the same as most... been overweight for a while, and tried everything... so this is where I ended up... I am just trying to be calm at this moment! I will keep u all posted June 2 , 2008 I went to the information session about Gastric Bypass surgery. I was going with the intent to have the gastric band.
June 3, 2008 1st appointment with Dr. Korus. We decided that the Bypass RNY would be the best for me.... my food addiction wouldn't allow for just the band. I actually need to be physically ill in order to stop eating! Fortunately, I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea in Feb 2008, during a hospital stay, I had congestive heart failure... so I don't need to do the sleep lab! (Surgery tentatively set for July 24th!)
June 18, 2008 I had the Ultra Sound and Upper GI. Everything is moving along nicely...
June 19 2008 I had my Psyche Eval. OK I am not insane enough not to have surgery, but I was strongly advised to keep coming back to work out some issues.... :)
June 26, 2008 I had my physical exam before surgery.... one snag... I didn't have pulmonary Function tests completed... Dr. Korus, would like to reschedule surgery, unless I can get them done ASAP.
Same day, called the PFT lab in Lankanau hospital... they can't get me in! I almost have another Heart attack!! I stay on the line with this woman, until she juggles something around, my PFT's scheduled for the 11th!

I was approved for my insurance today. I found that I will be getting short term disability... so everything is going well... so why am I so nervous! I have 9 days to go, and it's really consuming my every thought. I will not back out, no matter what, I am just a little nervous. .
July 16 2008 PFT's haven't gotten to Dr. Korus... I am going to stab someone today.... I did call and they will be sent! I have pre Cert today at Penn Presbyterian... 8 days... My stress level is HIGH. I am thinking about not having money during the time off... bills will pile up... and I am stressing! Oh and i just got a brand new bladder infection! Grrrrr.
July 16 2008 PFT's arrived! I had my pre op testing...so it'sall a go!

August 5 2008 well i am home, and i have lost 20 lbs, since starting the process.... it's exciting, but it's trying... i am def. feeling the head hunger.... and i hate it. I haven't been feeling well... but i am going to try to remain focused...
August 15 2008 I have lost 30 lbs.... and it's a little weird.... It's not really about the weight anymore... it's the relationship with food that is now gone... I get sick now and again, but i am on foods now... tuna, eggs, pudding... so it's a little bit better. I am struggling with getting in all the protine, and exersize.... but i think i am on track.
October 23 2008 I have lost 47 lbs ... it's still weird. I am about 40+ lbs from goal. Do you know i am surprised each week that i am still loosing... I am eating much more now... i haven't tried pasta... but i can each chicken, shrimp. So diet is getting better. I walk to work now... 12 blocks! So i am more energetic... so all is well thus far.
December 6 2008 I am down 61 lbs. I am about 20 + from goal. I am still feeling good, skin is an issue... but not a big one. I have a little trouble with my head catching up with my weight loss....... I can eat almost what ever now, no fried food, no sugar... which is fine with me.
November 2012 I cant believe i am on here again, but exp with 20 extra lbs to loose... but it is what it is... :) I have found that i needed a replacement for food... it's been pain killers, so i think that is very telling ... I hope all is well with every one else. .
