It has been awhile.....

Aug 02, 2007

It has been several months since I last posted. I now weigh 174 pounds and feel absolutely wonderful.  My body just seems to not want to lose any more weight. I don't know if i will ever make it to goal but if not this is truely the best decision I have ever made.

Finally 190!!!

Mar 12, 2007

I had not weighed for 2 weeks and got on the scales this morning and weigh 190. I had been stuck for so long and lost 6 pounds.  The only thing I can figure is that I have changed my exercise routine . Instead of walking all the time , I now jog as well as walk and I have added hilly areas to my walks. I guess your body gets use to walking everyday if you don't challenge yourself more. I am so greatful to my surgeon for giving me this second chance at life.

Here I am 50 years old and jogging, when I first started this journey I couln't even climb steps without gasping for air. When I first began running it seemed funny so I would run a little then walk, then run, then walk. It gets easier every day. You are never too old to start new things.

It has been a month since posting. I am still at the same weight. It seems my body just wants to stay at this weight. I still need to loose 50 more pounds. I exercise 5 days a week, I just don't know what else to do.

Century club .....here I come!!!!!

Dec 20, 2006

I finally made the century club last week. I had been waiting one year and almost  two months but I finally made it.  I have been one of those slow losers, but hey I'll take it when I can get it. This surgery has improved my life in so many ways. I can never thank my surgeon enough for giving me this second chance at life. I also left the 200's behind in the same week. My surgeon's goal is for me to loose at least 70%. That would be 11 more pounds. I would like to continue to loose 30 more.298 beginning weight  198 present weight  Goal 168

Thanksgiving 2006

Nov 24, 2006

What a difference a year makes, last year I was unable to eat anything and this year I was able to sample a little of everything! I weighed this morning and now weigh 200 pounds. That is a 98 pound loss in 13 months. It has been a slow go but hey I feel and look so much better and wouldn't change anything. Hopefully in a week I will reach the century mark and get my century card.

Another thing I am thankful for is I have just discovered I have a whole new family, four sisters and a brother whom I have never met, I was adopted and my biological sister just contacted me. I will be meeting three of them this afternoon for the first time. New beginnings are wonderful.

9 Month Check-Up ~ Down 83 Pounds

Aug 22, 2006

August 22, 2006 It has been 5 months since my last post. I had my 9 month check-up today. I have only lost 7 pounds in three months. I weigh 222 pounds. What a Bummer!!! I must truley be a slowwww loser. I noticed I hadn't lost any for 10 weeks and just feel that something must be wrong. The nurse said everyone goes thru stalls but that di not make me feel any better. At this point I just want to get to wonderland and then join the century club. With alot of luck and lots of hard work maybe one day I will get there. I later find out my thyroid is not right. My pcp ups my medicine and I lose 7 pounds in a week. I now weigh 215 pounds. I also rode a bike for the first time in 23 years. My grandson's eyes got so big when I took off on that bike, I said what is wrong, didn't you think nana could ride a bike? He just grinned , he is seven and so cute. What a difference 83 pounds makes when playing with your grandchildren..

This Surgery Has Made Such A Difference

Mar 22, 2006

March 22, 2006 I have been working seven days a week and only have a week to go until session is over. I have been feeling better each day and am walking 2 miles per day now.I remember when I couldn't walk 1/4 mile without being out of breath and feeling as if I couldn't go on. This surgery has made such a difference.I am losing around 2 pounds per week now. I am coming up on my 6 months anniversary and have been reading that it is harder to loose at that point. I still have a good ways to go with my weight loss.

You May Need Those One Day

Mar 06, 2006

March 6, 2006 I haven't posted for awhile. This is a busy time at work. I work for the state Senate and House of Representatives. We are in session and I have been working 60 plus hours per week. My lab work came back with me being low on iron and B12. I have started taking presribed iron as well as B12 injections. Constipation has been aproblem even though I take stool softners. I still continue to walk 1 mile per day , 5 days a week. I weigh 235 pounds now. I have lost a total of 63 pounds since leaving the hospital. I have gone form a size 24 to a size 18. I cleaned out my closet yesterday. I didn't know it would be so hard to let go of clothes. There seemed to be a little voice saying " you may need those one day", I sure hope not.I seem to be able to eat more each day and really have to watch the snacking.

My EDG

Dec 08, 2005

December 8, 2005 It started snowing around 10:30 am. It looked like ice was mixed it it. Everyone started calling in at work saying the roads were getting bad. The surgeon's office called and asked if I could come on to the hospital for the EDG. A normal 20 minute drive took us over an hour. After the scope Dr Oldham told me the stoma was fine a but would give me something for nausea.
