I wasn't heavy as a child. I gained about 50 pounds with my first child. I actually lost 15 pounds with my second child. My ex-husband is an alcoholic. He always said he drank because I was fat. About 15 years ago my employer offered an aerobics class. I went for 6 months. I had surgery on my left ankle in 1990 and had extensive therapy. After that I started walking a mile a day. I managed to lose 70 pounds but most all came back in about a year. I can remember shopping for regular size clothes and wearing pretty shoes. In the fall of 2005 I ordered Weight Watchers At Home and followed it for several months losing 22 pounds. My clothes were getting loose and co-workers were noticing it. Why did I stop? I don't know. In May 2005 and May 2006 I had a stress fracture in my right foot, probaby caused by my weight. In October 2006 I had total knee replacement on my right knee. The rehab was lengthy and awful. My left knee has giving me problems since I was 13. The kneecap has dislocated 3 times and it is VERY painful. My orthopedic surgeon says I need total replacement of that knee also. I'm still not walking too good. Several people in my office have had this surgery. I thought I would never want to do it. A couple of months ago when I realized that my walking was not getting better but getting a little worse I decided that surgery was the only thing that would help. I want my new knee to last and I want to put off surgery on the other one as long as possible. In March 2007 I had my gallbladder removed. I had a large gallstone. I have felt better since then but could stand to feel much better. I am very excited to get started on a new path.
