Just shy of 18 months post op

Jan 19, 2012

Went for my 1.5 yr exam on Jan 9th. Actual date is for post op is 1-26.  Anyway I have reached my personal goal and lost  101 pounds.

Just had a facelift on January 16th and feeling pretty good today 1-20.  Figured that's all I needed so why not get the best.  The exercising helps and I do not need any tummy tucks, arms, or breast work.  Yeah!    Will be posting before and after photos soon.

To all of you who think it's too late to do anything.  Never.  I was 61 and it's the best decision I made.  I will never be a size 24 again.  I now wear a 6-8 to xs small in pants and a Medium 8-10 in tops and blouses.  I never wore that size when I was in my 20's .  I also figure manufacturer's a cutting clothes bigger and labeling them smaller just to make the ever burgeoning population of women feel better.  However, when I can slip into a pair of Ralph Lauren or Polo staight jeans in size 8!!!  I know I have arrived.  Good luck to everyone who is on this journey and to those contemplating it...Just Do It!

My friend wynter57

Aug 25, 2011

To all of you who are friends to Wynter57 on this site.  She underwent her gastric bypass surgery Monday, 8-22-11.  she asked me about my bariatric surgeon almost a year ago and that's who she decided to go with this week.

I visited her on Tuesday and brough her a nice Tervis tumbler for all those protein shakes she will need.  She looked great and was sitting up and active.  Hopefully will be home later this week.  So keep all your positive thoughts and prayers comin'.  All of you know this is just the beginning of the journey!.

Take care,

ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY, 7-25-11 yeah me!

Jul 28, 2011

  What a fabulous year!

When I think about this time last year and how people told me.  "Just wait" the weight will drop off.  Just do what your doctor tells you to do!   I always have been an over achiever.  So yes, I kept up with the exercise, protein shakes, vitamins and low and behold 12 months later I have lost 94 lbs. and withing a 10 lb range of my goal.  I went from a 22/24 to a great size 8 or 10 depending on the designer.  yes, designer.  no more JMS or Lane Bryant.  I'm on to  Ralph Lauren, Jones New York and Liz Claiborn and Ann Taylor size 10's and 8's.

So to all of you out there just about to have surgery or just had it.  It can be done!  It's a whole new world for me and I'm 60!
Love it love it love it!

Best of luck to everyone out there!

Holidays are Around the Corner

Nov 08, 2010

I think I am stressing about the upcoming Holidays because I always associated them with eating, eating, and
more eating.  Typically would put on a good 5 to 10 lbs from Nov to Jan2 and then take 4 months to lose it.
This year is going to be a whole lot different.  I know, protein first, then veggies etc.  I will be approx. 16 weeks out around Thanksgiving.  I wonder if I could have a little wine with dinner.....

Have lotsa energy.  If I could only remember to get in all those calcium tablets.  i manage to get in at least two but never four a day.  Exercising 4 times a week for 45 minutes.  All my cravings have stopped.  I am getting a little bored with my food choices will have to start cooking some recipes I guess.

8 days out!

Aug 06, 2010

First post op doctor's visit, 8 days out and I lost 12.5 lbs.  It doesn't sound like much.  however, for the last two years, losing 12.5 pounds would have taken me three or four weeks.  I find I have to stay on a strict time schedule to get in all my meals, vitamins, and supplements, and shakes.  I'm just not hungry.  However, I am meeting the protein and fluid goals.  Perhaps I am expecting too much for less than two weeks after surgery.  How is everyone else doing in the group???  Take care !! and Happy Losing!

Counting the Days !!!!!

Jul 05, 2010

Well, July 4th has come and gone.  July 26th is my  surgery!  I am very excited and also a little afraid.  However, I do not doubt that this is the right way to proceed.  I have been advised and have taken the advice of have one protein shake daily and taking my vitamins 2x a day prior to surgery as it will give my body an extra boost and assist the healing process.
I am practicing the sipping process and slower eating process now.  I have a tendency to eat fast and gulp fluids.  I think this is the largest effort thus far!    Will keep you posted.  Wish me luck!
