Band or Bypass.....HELP!!!!!

I just got my approval for surgery from my insurance company.  I went in to this wanting the band, the 2 people that I know had the band had to have it removed and I hear all times you have to go in and get fills and slippage and all.  I know a dozen friends that have had bypass w/no complications.  My surgeon is very good and has done both and he said it is my decision.  Any thought from you all??????
