I have not been on OH in forever- I need to get back on track
Jun 04, 2009
Year two was filled with more work stress, a knee injury, and another battle with cancer by my mother. I took care of her during her illness and she passed away May 11, 2009; just after my 2 year bandiversary. Now I'm going through a break up of my 9 year relationship. The bottom line is that two years after having surgery I weigh 345 lbs. I have continued to lose weight slowly, and I have not gained any weight back. I am thankful for both of these things. I no longer have to take medication for high blood pressure or medication to regulate my menstral cycles. Both are benefits of having the surgery and losing weight. I had been having a lot of problems with regurgitation and acid reflux, but didn't go to the doctor because "I didn't have time." Yesterday I finally went and found out that that I had a prolapsed pouch. They had to take all the saline out of my band. This should take care of the swelling and irritation in my pouch and allow it to heal properly so I can begin the process again.
This is a fresh start for me. I can't go back in time and fix the past, but I can look forward to making better choices now.
2nd fill

I've also been extremely busy with work and trying to help my nephew. He is currently in Iraq. Before he left he found out that he might have gotten a girl pregnant. She had her baby in June and CPS in Texas took custody of the baby due to her having a history of neglecting the five previous children she had! To make a long story short, I was being considered for placement of the baby and was traveling to Texas for court. Monday, I went down and found out that he is not the baby's father. I have mixed feelings about the situation, but it will make my life a little less hectic trying to prepare for bringing a baby home. So no more excuses- I need to get up and get moving!
One week post fill...
Jun 27, 2007
I am happy, yet puzzled by where I find myself one week after last week's fill. According to my scale at home I have lost 10 lbs. I was up to 377lbs the day of my fill. Today I weighed in at 367 lbs. So although I lost 10 lbs, I really only lost 3 more pounds then right after surgery.
However, I don't feel that I have restriction. I can eat the same amount that I was eating post surgery but pre-fill. I guess I will be contacting Rita, the nurse practitioner that does fills at my doctor's office to see if I can get another fill... I hope the weight loss continues.

OMG!!
May 31, 2007
I had my first "learning experience" with the band last night. We went and had japanese food last night. I had some sushi and teriyaki chicken. I ate WAY too much and proceeded to have the worst stomach pain of my life. I felt like I was going to PB but I didn't. I laid in bed willed myself not to be ill. I hope never to feel like that again.
One Week Post-Op
May 18, 2007
Well it is a week and two days since my surgery. Apparently there was a miscommunication by the nursing staff when I left the hospital last week. They told me and my family that I needed to be on a clear liquid diet until I saw Dr. Edwards. By Monday my stomach had started growling and I was starting to feel really hungry. Tuesday morning I called Dr. Edwards' office to see if I could have anything more substantial. They let me know that it was ok to start on thicker soups, etc.
Yesterday I went to my appointment with Dr. Edwards. I stepped on the scale and found that I had lost 10lbs-in one week!! I know this is unusual, but I was still excited to see that drop. Everything is going well and I am healing just fine. Dr. Edwards said that I could start on solid foods tomorrow! I go in for my first fill on 6-21-07. My BMI is now below 60- WOO HOO!
