I have been struggling with weight loss for years tried all diets and some of them many times. I have a friend that had wls several years ago and she has done very well. I have thought about it since then. I went for a lap band seminar a year and a half ago and did everything asked of me and Insurance declined surgery on 5/2/05 and I gave up. I have only continued to gain weight. My family Dr. Mentioned that she was hearing very good things about Dr. Lane so I went to one of his seminar's. I was impressed with Dr. Lane and made my appt that night. I have had my sleep study done and am wearing the CPAP. Since my psychological exam was over a year ago and for the lap band and I'm not having the lap band they want me to have another. I will be having that this thursday. I have been lurking around this site keeping up with my friend Deb's progress and finally after a tough weekend I've decided to sign up.

I have not been very good at keeping this updated but I did copy and paste that from the old profile and will add some more of the journey below.

I went to Dr. Lanes informational meeting on Dec 12, 2005  my first appointment with Dr. Lane was 1/4/06 as I said above since it had been so long I had to have another psychological eval and that was on 3/9/06.  On 3/22/2006 I called Dr. Lane's office and the office person said I was approved for surgery from the psychologist and I was on the list to get the Letter from Dr. Lane to my insurance.  From that date I spoke to someone in Dr. Lanes office every few days to check on paperwork.   I attended another informational seminar on 4/11/2006  on 5/5/06  I stopped into the office and was told hit was sent on 5/2/06  on 5/11/2006 I called my insurance company and found out it had been forwarded to a  nurse in Texas who evaluates all the paperwork and on 5/19/06 I was denied.    My insurance required the six months surpervised weight loss and exercise program and they didn't like the documentation we had submitted so I needed to start that process over with my PCP.   My physician Dr. Elizabeth Horrigan had written many great letters to my insurance company and so we decided to start over.

August 17, 2006 I started over with my PCP.  We did monthly visit's until April then my PCP had some office staff change and my paperwork was missing in action.   On 7/25/2007 My Dr. sent a letter to Dr. Lane's office saying I had completed my 6 months etc.  8/31/2007 I received a letter from Linda at Dr. Lane's that I was missing severl things so I called her and found out that because my psychological eval was old I needed to do it again.   I also needed the medical clearances and proof of my 6 month diet.   I told her I was giving up I had already had 2 psychological evals and done the medical clearances and I wasn't going to do it again as I was in tears.   She said I promise you that if you get these things done again I will not let you fall through the cracks again!    So I trusted her and started again with another psychological and the testing.  I called on weekly to keep track of my status.   I was finally scheduled for my pulmonary functions, blood, chest x-ray and ekg and with Dr. Dawley on 10/25/2007 my insurance company received the paperwork.   On 11/8/07 I received a call from Linda at Dr. Lanes and she said I didn't have the 6 months I was very upset and called my physicians office and she was going to call my insurance company.   Alot of back and forth phone calls and emails and then changing procedures and finally I AM APPROVED 11/9/07.     This has been a long time coming!    My surgery is scheduled for January 15, 2008.
