Well, the good new, the really, really good new is...I GOT pre-approval from my Ins. company for the LAP band surgery!!!  Apparently, I was approved on 4-29-08, but for whatever reasons, my surgeon's office did not notify me.  About May 15, 2008, I couldn't stand not knowing any longer, so I phoned the Ins. Co. myself, and was told that the approval had been sent weeks before.  Needless to say, I am somewhat disappointed with the office staff for not keeping me posted, but I am still very pleased with the news all the same.

Now I hear that my file moves from pre-determination, to the lady who schedules the surgeries.  Unfortunately, she requires at least 5 business days to call, and tommorrow, she will be on her 5th day.  I guess I wouldn't be so impatient, had the doctor himself not told me I could be having the surgery by late April, first of May, and here it is, the end of May, and I don't even have an assigned surgery date, and not because my Ins. is the hold up, like most people must suffer.  No, my hold up has been my own surgeon's office's obvious need for more help in the pre-dtermination dept, and pre-surgery set up, etc.  I intend to discuss this with him whenever I finally get to see him right before the actual sugery, but of course, I doubt it will have much impact.

I am trying to keep myself busy, and not think about the delays as that will only raise my blood pressure and serve no positive purpose.  If I haven't heard from the surgeon's office by noon tommorrow, they will be getting another call from me.  I know they want the patients to be patient, bare with them, etc., but come on.  The approval has been sitting there since April 29th for God's sake!  Anyway, with the last two weeks of school and PACT testing for the kids, new puppy in the house, and a sick kitty, I have had plenty to do to keep me busy.  I hurt my back about 4 weeks ago and as it was giving trouble still the family dr. decided to try a round of Prednisone, only after a day and a half, I had a severe allergic reaction to it.  In fact, it's been over a week, and I still don't feel well from the ordeal.  Oh well, at least the ball is now rolling, no matter how slowly, right?

I will post more info as it becomes available in this journey.
