8 Year Anniversary

Aug 08, 2015

Eight years ago, I was blessed with a lapband. My life has not been the same. I lost 107 pounds and keep it off with more good choices than bad, daily exercise, weekly support group meetings, and a gallon of water a day. I cannot believe how life has changed. I went to Mexico before surgery and mostly sat around eating. Now vacations include good food, but lots of fun. This summer in Jamaica I rode a horse for the first time. Life is so much better with my band.

Tummy Tuck at Last

Jul 26, 2013

Two weeks ago, I was blessed with abdominalplasty.  I lost 107 pounds with my lapband almost 6 years ago.  Although I hated the grotesque look of my "apron", I was too frightened of the pain.  After two of my close friends had the surgery, I finally decided that it was time for me.  I am amazed with the results and the minimal pain I've experienced.  I don't recall, but I'm told that it took me four hours to get out of recovery because they couldn't get my pain under control.  I was finally sent home where my husband and children gave me incredible care.  The first three days were quite painful even with the pain meds.  There was a horrific burning at the incision site and then getting up and down was rough.  My bed is quite tall, so my husband got a step stool for me which helped a lot. I went on a five hour shopping spree last week.  I might need a second job to buy all the new, sexy and fun panties.  If you've considered it and decided against it for some reason, I highly recommend that you reconsider.  I can't believe how great I feel after just two weeks.  Yes, there is a very long incision, but I would be willing to have two of them to be relieved of that "growth".  Losing 107 pounds was fantastic, but I really feel like a thin girl now.  I can't wait for all the swelling to go down, get rid of the compression garment, and wear some knit dresses to show off my new figure.  It wasn't half as bad as I expected.

Five Year Anniversary with my Lapband

Jul 22, 2012

I will celebrate my five year anniversary with my lapband on August 8th.  It is still so much fun and I know how blessed I am to have lost and kept off 107 pounds.  My family and I went to Cancun the week before my surgery in 2007.  We spent the last two weeks there.  In 2007 I mostly sat around and ate.  I can now do things I never thought possible.  I went on a jet-ski with my husband.  I can get myself back in the kayak if I fall off.  I took three swimsuits...size 10 instead of size 26.  I am so grateful to Dr. Broussard and Dr. Keller at Weight Wise in Edmond, Oklahoma.  I also am fortunate to have a family that has supported me.  My husband not only encourages me to exercise, but he does it with me.  It's amazing what this surgery has done for me and forever grateful.
