2 YEARS!!!
May 26, 2009
Golly...Where does the time go!! 2 years-it sure doesn't seem it. It has been a wonderful time so far. I am at 147#, size 10 and very happy with that. Memorial weekend I rode my bike 28 miles on Sat. Not bad for the first time out. I usually walk 3-4 miles a day, at least 5 days a week.
Last post, I had broken my finger-had surgery, and 7 weeks off work cuz they didn't have light duty. I was off from July 18 to Sept 4. What a wonderful summer that was. I really had little to no pain--just limitations of my hand. I did get back on my motorcycle but sold it as I felt it was too big for me. I did get another- Yamaha 400 special which we are fixing up. I will ride again...just alittle hesitant but I want to get over that.
Another great thing in my life is passing the registry for my job. I do echocardiograms and am now registered--passed 2 nasty nasty tests and can now put RDCS after my name. So glad that's behind me.
One of my goals this summer is to attempt to waterski. (Think I can I break something and get the summer off again?)
I really like fruit now. That is something I didn't eat much of before. It is so good to take along an apple of orange to eat on a bike ride or after hiking. We have some wonderful bike/hike trails in our area.
As for my body, I guess it could be worse. I have not looked into plastic surgery but will probably within the next year. I would like a breast lift/reduction although I have gone from 44 DDD to 36 DD, they are not where they are supposed to be if you get my drift! Would also like a tummy tuck but not sure insurance would cover that. Guess I'll learn once I get to that point.
To those waiting surgery--DO IT--IT IS SOOOO WORTH IT. Find a good support group and start going NOW. You will get answers to questions you didn't know you had.
To those having surgery anniversaries--CONGRATULATIONS!
To my surgeons, staff, support group, surgical team--THANKS A MILLION!

My friend asked me the other day if I felt others treated me different as a "normal" size person vs obese. I had to say yes. Those who knew me before treat me the same but I do notice people seem to talk to me more....or maybe it is ME talking more to them. I didn't have to deal with men flirting before. Even women seem more friendly, accepting toward me. OR maybe it is all me~
I am so proud of my surgeon and his staff and the follow up care I received/am receiving. I work in a hospital and there are many employees who have had this surgery. Most have gone to Columbus for their surgery, I went to Akron. I have had several people comment on how much HEALTHIER I look than whose who went elsewhere. I can't help but give credit to Dr. Dan and his staff. Thank you so much for this gift.

One more thing-the hospital I work for has exercise incentives every couple of months. We just finished bike riding 100 miles. I was one of those who completed 100 miles and was put into a drawing. I won a year's membership to Superfitness!! Woohooo!! I am a lucky dog!! I am blessed.

I am at the point where people actually notice now. I love it. I love hearing that I look younger! My rings are falling off and my watch is loose. I have been swimming and last week went kayaking. I thought it would be a lot more strenuous than it was. Very fun!! Will add that to my firsts with many more to follow. I have been taking the stairs whenever I get the chance and don't get out of breath. What a change for me!
Good luck to all going to surgery this month--it is soo worth it!
