Almost there!

Sep 11, 2010

If anyone ever reads this thing besides myself you will know that I am horrible about writing here...so I apologize........kinda......  :))

I had my surgery on Jan 23rd of this year. At that time I weighed in at 331 lbs. That was after losing 50 prior.......so I started this journey at 381 lbs! Who the hell was that guy? I dont recognize him any longer. To be honest I have a hard time recognizing the new me as well........but I like him much better, thats for sure.

Food has not been a problem for me at all. Sure, I puked a couple of times because I ate too fast, or didnt chew my food well enough, but that was my fault totally. I have not had a soda in 14 months, or anything carbonated for that matter, no bread (or flour products) of any kind, or sugar. I confess to stilI drinking coffee. I know they tell you not to but I dont drink alcohol anyway (havent had a drink in over 12 years) and you have to have one vice, don't ya? There has not been any problems with the coffee so I will continue. I must tell you that I feel absolutley fantastic and do not feel slighted by not partaking of any sweets etc. I eat really well and stick to the plan. LOTS of protein as well all know and plenty of veggies and fruit. Fruit is my new sweet :)

I am now at 205 lbs.!!! I cannot believe it. I am now only 5 lbs from my goal weight.......to which one nurse told me "You know that might be a little unrealistic.....your not in your 20's anymore" HA! I have been told I am stubborn............never tell me I can't do something. I will do it to spite you !!!! LOL

Hope all is well with you all and if I can help anyone just drop me a line. This has been the best thing I have ever done and would love to share.

Wow!

Jul 17, 2010

I am so terrible about writing here. I mostly lurk, update my weight and progress and read.

I have to say that this month makes a year since I started this journey.....Well, I actually had my first meeting in August of last year, but July was the month I started my lifestyle change. I had surgery in Jan. of this year (2010) and have been pretty steadily on the weight decline since then.

I have so much energy and I am feeling awesome. I go back for my six month checkup this month as well. I started out weighing 381 lbs. I lost right at 50 pounds prior to surgery and another 108 since January.

Thanks to my family and the folks at South San Francisco Bariatric Dept. and particularly Dr. Alami who is a great surgeon, who happens to have a great sense of humor. I could not have done this without you all !

The start of things to come

Mar 04, 2010

I started this journey in July of 2009. I weighed in at an all time high of 381 lbs. Wow! I could not believe that I weighed that much.

I have a friend who had the RNY about six years ago. He inspired me to start this journey. He lost 140 lbs. and has kept it off.

I started having some medical issues as a result of my weight about three or so years ago. The typical stuff, knees and back hurting, sluggish and tired all the time. I had gone to the Dr. in late 2008 and was told I was borderline diabetic, my cholesterol was getting a little high, and I was just not feeling well at all. I knew it was my weight and I knew I needed to do something soon.

I had some difficulty with the referral as I am not sure my regular Dr. knew the procedure. It took me a while to commit to the idea of WLS and finally towards the end of summer made the commitment. I was ready for a new healthier lifestyle.............so my journey began.
