Dr. Apt 2 weeks post op

Jun 02, 2011

I went to the Doctor June 2nd and have lost 13 lbs since surgery, woo hooo. I have the go ahead to start solid foods on Monday the 6th. Walked out with a very specific list of test foods. Start with list one, all foods to two and then three. Once I hit three I don't have to drink the shakes anymore. I am a little nervous about eating normal foods but look forward to my six mini meals a day.

I am able to fly to Florida on the 9th to see my mother, can't wait to see what she has to say. She will be flying back with me for both my daughters graduation, so this means I will have three weeks with her total. Hope she can stand me for that long and I don't drive her . Have to continue to walk the roads, can't go back to the gym for another two weeks.

two weeks post op

Jun 01, 2011

I have had my new stomach for two weeks now. Heading to the doctor for post op check up tomorrow June 2nd. Not sure if I am doing things right but the weight is coming off. I am feeling much better now I am off the insulin and on a different one. Lantus 11 units a day compared to Novo log 70/30 3x daily. I have stopped taking actose and have not been as tired as I was before the surgery.

I am enjoying walking again but do miss eating my veggies. The last two days I have had high blood sugars in the morning and normal after breakfast. This makes me a little concerned, don't want to end up on more insulin again. I am having a hard time with breakfast, not knowing what to puree'  so shakes it is. I am not missing carbs but am not a huge meat person either. I enjoy chicken and fish but there is only so much I can eat of that.

Thank God I was able to complete my school work before surgery, I have been tired  in the afternoon and just want a nap. Going back to work one week after surgery has been something I did not want to do, but appears to be something I always end up doing no matter what surgery I have had. I do wish the kids and husband would pick up after themselves, got up this morning and sons mud from his cleats was still on the floor.

I do have to say this surgery is going much better than I expected. I am handling the eating very well and do not feel as though I am deprived of food. I can not wait to see what the future holds.
