Michelle, what beautiful words and oh so true. It is a mind thing and that needs to be healed before anything else can be fixed. Such wise words, I only hope that I can accomplish this feat. Blessings to you as you continue on your journey.

I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY~*~ I said a prayer for you today And know God must have heard- I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke no word I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind, I asked Him to send treasures Of a far more lasting kind, I asked that He'd be near you At the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all.**Hugs**

Michelle....you are not a freak. I too had to have part of my incision re-opened last Friday at my two week post op visit. I know exactly how you are feeling. It hurts and is ugly as hell. Hang in there...this too shall pass. You are welcome to write me and we can be of support to each other. Ann in TX, [email protected]

Hi Michelle- been there, done that. My entire 10" incision had to be re-opened one week after surgery (I still went back to work one week later). Listen, if this is the worst complication you have, you are a lucky woman! It won't stop you from losing weight, you know. This is just a bump in the road. For me, the worst part was the exercise restriction while my entire incision healed from the inside out. Please try to see this more positively. You WILL heal, and you WILL go forward from this. I know it's hard, but you can do it.

Michelle, I'm preop, but have had several abdominal surgeries and EACH one has opened and required sterile packing. Additionally, I'm an RN and can assure you wholeheartedly.. YOU'RE NOT A FREAK. It will heal.. from the inside out.. and take heart.. it won't take that long. Be well and happy. God Bless, Mary

Hi Michelle, I had to write to you about your post tonight about the opening in your incision. I too had this. It was so, so gross, I hated it! I had a pocket that the doc called liquid fat, and he just stuck is surgery knife in there to let it drain out, and then it had to heal from the inside/out...talk about sick! I did want to tell you though, that it took a long time to heal because I kept it packed all the time; it is better to let air hit it for periods of time, especially after a shower (use a blow dryer to be sure to get it dried out). Once I started to let the air hit it; it healed quickly; and now it's appears just like the rest of the scar, except a tinge pinker and wider. Oh, man, you brought it all back to me! Yuck! Good luck sweetie! As you take your journey to the inner, and thinner you, remember: The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance; but the Lord looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7 For I am the LORD, you God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Isaiah 41:13 Don't tell GOD how big your storm is. Tell the storm how big your GOD is! Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 I'm hoping you have a successful surgery, a rapid recovery, and much success in your weight loss journey. Des's date of surgery 3/13/2002 Pre-op weight =316#'s, current weight = 176#'s 3/2003, -140#'s

Hi Michelle, No, you are not the only one to have their incision open up. I won't detail my adventure here, but it was interesting! lol It is all healed now. I figure that is the most minor complication I could have had!Take care. I promise it will get better.
